HR – Wendle (5), Lambo (3), Brugman (1)

Prospect Of The Game:

Second Baseman Joey Wendle

(3 for 5 / Grand Slam / Triple / 5 RBIs)

Second baseman Joey Wendle’s bat has really been heating up lately. And on Saturday, he collected 3 hits, including a triple and a grand slam, and ended up driving in 5 runs to help the Sounds win their sixth straight. Wendle is now 9 for 13 with 3 doubles, 2 triples and a home run over his last 3 games. Left fielder Andrew Lambo singled and homered, while center Jaycob Brugman belted his 1st home run for Nashville, a 2-run shot, and shortstop Chad Pinder singled, tripled and walked for the Sounds. Starter Dillon Overton allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 5 innings of work to earn his 4th win for Nashville. Meanwhile, with RHP Zach Neal making a relief appearance for Oakland on Saturday, the A’s will now be in need of someone to make the start for them on Tuesday. LHP Eric Surkamp is currently set to start for the Sounds on Sunday, with RHP Daniel Mengden scheduled to make the start on Monday and RHP Chris Smith set to take the mound on Tuesday. All could be options for the A’s, but considering how dominant he’s been all season, Mengden would certainly seem to be the most deserving choice for the assignment. And in other news, Sounds catcher Bryan Anderson was placed on the 7-day disabled list on Saturday.
