Josh Rodriguez, who’s played sparingly since joining the Sounds earlier this month, got the start at shortstop on Tuesday and had a big night at the plate. The 31-year-old minor league veteran had a home run and a pair of doubles and drove in 4 runs to help Nashville notch its ninth win in its last ten games on Tuesday. Right fielder Matt Olson collected 4 hits, including a double, while designated hitter Ryon Healy had 3 hits and drove in a run, and second baseman Chad Pinder slugged a 3-run homer for the Sounds. Starter Eric Surkamp allowed 4 runs over 6 innings of work to earn his 2nd win for Nashville.

With two outs and Matt Chapman on third in the top of the 10th inning, center fielder Brett Vertigan singled to drive him home and provide Midland with the margin of victory on Tuesday. Vertigan also doubled but was left stranded in the 3rd, while Chapman and designated hitter Tyler Marincov had a pair of hits apiece. Starter Corey Walter tossed 5 shutout innings and has now failed to allow a run in 15 innings over his last 3 starts. RHP Kris Hall surrendered 1 run in 2 innings of relief, while RHP Sam Bragg gave up the tying run in the bottom of the 8th but stuck around to throw 2 scoreless innings after that and wound up picking up the win for the RockHounds.

RHP Kyle Friedrichs turned in another solid start for the Snappers on Tuesday, allowing just 4 hits over 8 shutuout innings to earn his 3rd win, and Friedrichs has now failed to allow an earned run in 19 innings over his last 3 starts. RHP Cody Kurz picked up his 5th save despite surrendering 1 unearned run during a rainy 9th inning. First baseman Chris Iriart singled, doubled, walked and scored twice, while designated hitter Ryan Howell had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Snappers. Meanwhile, RHP Xavier Altamirano was placed on the disabled and infielder Jesus Lopez was activated off the DL on Tuesday.
