TEXAS LEAGUE  (Double-A)

Midland RockHounds  5

Frisco RoughRiders       6

LP – Jensen 2-3 / 6.23

HR – Munoz 2 (3)

Prospect Of The Game:

Designated Hitter Yairo Munoz

(3 for 4 / 2 Home Runs / Double / 4 RBIs)

Designated hitter Yairo Munoz had a big night at the plate for Midland on Monday, but it wasn’t enough to keep the RockHounds from dropping their second straight at Frisco. Munoz, appearing in just his 9th game since getting a late start to the season due to lingering foot, heel and quad issues, slugged his first home run of the night, a solo shot, in the 2nd inning to put the Hounds on the board. And after Frisco scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd, the 21-year-old then tagged a 3-run homer to tie the game in the top of the 3rd. He also doubled with two outs in the 5th but was left stranded, and Midland never scored another run after the 3rd. Munoz drove in all but one of the RockHounds’ runs in the games. Matt Chapman, making his second start of the season at shortstop, drove in the other when he doubled in a run in the 3rd. Starter Chris Jensen had a shaky outing, surrendering 6 runs over 5 innings of work to suffer his 3rd loss for Midland. Meanwhile, the Texas League named RHP Raul Alcantara its Pitcher of the Week after he threw 6 no-hit innings to earn the win in last Thursday’s game, and he’s set to take the mound again for Midland on Tuesday. First baseman/designated hitter Viosergy Rosa was named the league’s Player of the Week after he went 10 for 29 with 5 doubles, a home run and 6 RBIs for the RockHounds last week. And in other news, RHP Dylan Covey was placed on the disabled list on Monday with a strained left oblique muscle, and RHP Ryan Gorton was activated off Stockton’s disabled list and reassigned to the RockHounds.

Prospect Of The Game:

Designated Hitter Andrew Lambo

(2 for 4)

The Sounds were shut out on 6 hits on Monday. Designated hitter Andrew Lambo had a pair of singles, one in the 2nd and one in the 7th, to account for two of those hits, and Nashville wasn’t able to get a runner past first base before the 6th inning. Starter Chris Smith allowed 5 runs, just 2 earned, over 5 1/3 innings to suffer his 5th loss for the Sounds.

Prospect Of The Game:

Second Baseman Jesus Lopez

(1 for 3 / Double / RBI)

The Snappers managed just 3 hits as they dropped their fifth straight in a rain-shortened game on Monday. Second baseman Jesus Lopez doubled in Beloit’s only run in the bottom of the 6th inning. RHP Xavier Altamirano had his roughest start so far this season, allowing 6 runs, 5 earned, in just 3 innings of work to suffer his 3rd loss for the Snappers. Center fielder Skye Bolt missed his second straight game after slightly straining his hamstring running to first base in Friday’s game. But he hasn’t been placed on the disabled list and the team hopes he’ll be able to make his return to the lineup in a matter of days.

RHP Xavier Altamirano: 3 IP / 9 H / 6 R / 5 ER / 0 BB / 2 K
