2014’s 5th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Heath Fillmyer, turned in his best start so far this season for Stockton, allowing just 2 hits while walking 1 and striking out 5 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win on Friday. RHP Lou Trivino tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Koby Gauna got the final three outs in the 9th to complete the 3-hit shutout for Stockton. Center fielder B.J. Boyd had a big night at the plate, reaching base 5 times, on a walk, a double and 3 singles, while also driving in a pair of runs, and second baseman Joe Bennie had 2 hits and 2 walks and drove in 3 for the Ports.

LHP Dillon Overton had a rough start for the Sounds on Friday, allowing 7 runs over 6 innings of work, but most of the damage came thanks to 2 home runs, including a grand slam in the 2nd inning. Designated hitter Renato Nunez had 3 hits, including a double, walked and drove in a run, and Nunez is now 7 for his last 19 and is batting .292 on the season. Catcher Bruce Maxwell walked and doubled to clear the bases in the bottom of the 2nd, while first baseman Rangel Ravelo had a pair of hits and a walk as the Sounds dropped their fourth straight. And with Tyler Ladendorf returning to Nashville from Oakland, catcher Bryan Anderson was reassigned to Vermont’s roster on Friday.

Third baseman Matt Chapman smacked his league-leading 9th home run, while first baseman Viosergy Rosa doubled in a run for the RockHounds in the bottom of the 1st and Franklin Barreto, who exited Thursday’s game early after fouling a ball off his leg, struck out in a pinch-hitting appearance in the 9th.
