Starter Joel Seddon held the Hooks hitless through the first 4 innings on Wednesday and ended up allowing just 1 run over 5 2/3 innings to earn the win in his best outing so far this season for the RockHounds. RHP Corey Walter pitched 3 1/3 perfect innings in relief to pick up his 1st save for Midland. Right fielder Jaycob Brugman singled in the Hounds’ first run in the 5th inning, while designated hitter Ryon Healy and left fielder J.P. Sportman both doubled and walked in the game, and catcher Beau Taylor and shortstop Franklin Barreto had a pair of hits apiece in the win. Yairo Munoz, who was activated off the disabled list, made the start at second base and went 1 for 4 in his Midland debut. Catcher Andy Paz and RHP Ben Bracewell also joined the RockHounds roster from Stockton, while catcher Carson Blair and RHP Sam Bragg were placed on the disabled list for Midland.

Prospect Of The Game:

RHP Casey Meisner held San Jose scoreless through the first 5 innings before surrendering 3 unearned runs in the 6th inning, with the help of a throwing error by third baseman Jose Brizuela, and he ended up taking the loss on Wednesday. Right fielder Seth Brown slugged a home run in the 7th inning and Brizuela singled in shortstop Mikey White later in the same inning to provide all the Ports’ scoring on the night. With Stockton catcher Andy Paz and RHP Ben Bracewell reassigned to the RockHounds on Wednesday, RHP Brendan Butler was added to the Ports roster from the AZL A’s, catcher Iolana Akau was activated from the disabled list, and RHP Daniel Gossett was placed on the DL for the Ports.

The Snappers were shut out for the second straight night on Wednesday, and have now managed a total of just 7 hits combined in their last two games. Starter Xavier Altamirano gave up 3 runs in just 3 innings of work to take the loss. Catcher Santiago Chavez and outfielders Brett Siddall, Justin Higley and Steven Pallares all singled in the loss. RHP Dustin Driver and shortstop Trace Loehr were both placed on the disabled list for Beloit, while RHP Kevin Johnson was activated off the DL, and LHPs Mike Fagan and Cody Stull joined the Snappers from extended spring training in Arizona.

 

In Other News…

After making his major league debut on Monday, the A’s optioned RHP Andrew Triggs back to Nashville on Wednesday and promoted catcher/outfielder Matt McBride from the Sounds. It was also announced on Wednesday that the A’s would be promoting their top pitching prospect, LHP Sean Manaea, from Nashville to make his major league debut against the Astros on Friday. Manaea has posted an impressive 1.50 ERA while striking out 21 in 18 innings over 3 starts for the Sounds this season.
