Beloit Snappers  6

Burlington Bees    5

WP – Duno 1-1 / 2.08

Prospect Of The Game:

Outfielder Justin Higley

(3 for 4 / Triple / Walk / 2 Runs)

The Snappers won their third straight from Burlington on Saturday. Left fielder and leadoff man Justin Higley tripled to start off the game and quickly came around to score the first run and give the Snappers an early lead they would never surrender on Saturday. Higley would reach base 3 more times in the game, on a pair of singles and a walk and would score another run in the 2nd. Catcher Nick Collins singled, walked twice and drove in 2, while third baseman Ryan Howell doubled in a pair in the 1st, and second baseman Trent Gilbert and designated hitter Brett Siddall had a pair of hits apiece for the Snappers. Starter Jesus Zambrano surrendered 2 runs on 7 hits over 3 innings of work, while RHP Angel Duno allowed just 1 unearned run in 4 innings of relief to earn the win, and RHP Corey Miller tossed a scoreless 9th to notch his 1st save for the Snappers.

Prospect Of The Game:

First Baseman Rangel Ravelo

(1 for 3 / Double / Walk / 3 RBIs)

RHP Chris Smith had another shaky start for the Sounds, allowing 5 runs over 5 innings of work to take his 3rd loss on Saturday. First baseman Rangel Ravelo doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning for Nashville. RHP Jesse Hahn is set to make the start for the Sounds on Sunday in what could potentially be his last start for the team if the A’s decide to pull the trigger and recall him in time to make Friday’s start in place of Eric Surkamp against the Astros.

Prospect Of The Game:

Shortstop Franklin Barreto

(3 for 4 / Double / 2 Runs)

A fielding error by center fielder Brett Vertigan opened the door to 4 unearned runs to score off starter Dylan Covey in the 2nd inning, which was all he would allow over 6 innings of work, but Covey still ended up being saddled with the loss on Saturday. RHPs Trey Cochran-Gill and Bobby Wahl combined to surrender 6 more runs in relief. Shortstop Franklin Barreto and right fielder Jaycob Brugman both doubled and had a pair of singles in the loss.

RHP Dylan Covey: 6 IP / 3 H / 4 R / 0 ER / 2 BB / 3 K

RHP Trey Cochran-Gill: 1 IP / 3 H / 4 ER / 1 BB / 2 K

Prospect Of The Game:

Outfielder B.J. Boyd

(2 for 5 / Triple / 2 RBIs / Stolen Base)

Starter Daniel Gossett was charged with 3 runs over 2 innings of work but, more importantly, made a hasty exit from the game after looking uncomfortable while facing the leadoff man in the top of the 3rd inning on Saturday. No additional updates on Gossett’s status were available after the game. RHP Lou Trivino allowed 3 runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief to take the loss, while left fielder B.J. Boyd singled, tripled, stole a base and drove in a pair for the Ports.
