The A’s top pitching prospect, LHP Sean Manaea, made an impressive Nashville debut on Monday night. Manaea gave up just 2 singles and no runs through the first 5 innings and ended up allowing 1 run on 4 hits while walking none and striking out 6 over 5 1/3 innings to earn the win. Center fielder Tyler Ladendorf homered to lead things off for the Sounds in the bottom of the 1st inning and then doubled and scored Nashville’s second run in the 3rd. Left fielder Jake Smolinski homered in the 6th and also singled and walked twice in the game, while designated hitter Andrew Lambo singled, tripled and drove in 4 runs, and catcher Bruce Maxwell singled and doubled in a run in the 4th. RHP Andrew Triggs closed out the victory by striking out the side for the Sounds in the 9th.

Catcher Carson Blair drove in all 3 of the RockHounds’ runs with a pair of singles. Starter Dylan Covey allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks over 4 innings of work and left the game with a one-run lead, but RHP Jake Sanchez gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th to take the loss.

RHP Casey Meisner got off to a rough start on Monday, giving up 2 hits and 2 runs in the 1st inning, but he didn’t allow a hit or a run over the next 5 frames. Meisner ended up allowing 2 runs on 2 hits over 6 innings of work and left the game with a two-run lead, but RHP Joey Wagman was charged with 3 runs in the 7th inning to take the loss. Rehabbing infielder Eric Sogard, batting second and playing second base for Stockton, went 2 for 4 and drove in a run in the loss.

First baseman Chris Iriart continued his hot hitting on Monday, collecting a home run, a double and a pair of singles while driving in 3 runs for the Snappers. It was Iriart’s third homer in the last two days and he now has 7 hits in his last 8 at-bats. Left fielder Steven Pallares slugged a 2-run homer in the top of the 3rd to give his team the lead and also walked 3 times and stole a base in the game.
