WP – Triggs 1-0 / 0.00

Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Jesse Hahn

(6 IP / 2 H / 0 ER / 3 BB / 5 K)

After losing his spot in the A’s starting rotation this spring, RHP Jesse Hahn looked strong in his Nashville debut on Friday night. Hahn allowed just 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5 over 6 scoreless innings, throwing 74 pitches – 50 strikes and 24 balls – and he left the game with a one-run lead. Second baseman Joey Wendle doubled with one out in the bottom of the 1st inning and then came around to score on right fielder Matt Olson’s two-out double to give Nashville the early edge. Wendle also singled and stole a base in the game while Olson would notch another double and draw a walk. LHP Patrick Schuster took over in the 7th after Hahn’s exit and struck out 4 in 2 perfect innings of relief. The Sounds maintained their slim 1-0 lead until the top of the 9th, when RHP Angel Castro came on to secure the save but instead surrendered a leadoff home run to catcher Yasmani Grandal to tie the game. LHP Daniel Coulombe struck out the side in the top of the 10th and RHP Andrew Triggs followed with a scoreless 11th. Third baseman Max Muncy, who’d walked twice in the game, led off the bottom of the 11th with a single and then came around to score when designated hitter Renato Nunez smacked a triple into center field to give the Sounds the walk-off win on Friday night. Nashville native Triggs picked up the win in his debut with the hometown team. And with LHP Eric Surkamp joining Oakland to make the start against Seattle on Friday, outfielder Andrew Lambo was optioned back to Nashville. Meanwhile, LHP Dillon Overton is set to make his first start for the Sounds on Saturday.
