19-year-old Venezuelan third baseman Jean Carlo Rodriguez had a big day at the plate for the Arizona League A’s on Friday. Rodriguez had 4 hits, including a triple and a double, and drove in 4 runs, including the go-ahead run for the A’s in the bottom of the 3rd. First baseman Miguel Guzman singled, doubled and drove in 3, while left fielder Shane Conlon walked and doubled in a run in the win. This year’s 3rd-round draft pick for the A’s, 18-year-old RHP Dakota Chalmers, allowed 1 unearned run and struck out 3 in 1 2/3 innings to start things off on Friday, while rehabbing RHP Ryan Brasier tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his 1st win, and 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Argenis Blanco contributed 4 scoreless frames in relief for the A’s.

RHP Nate Long had a shaky start for the Sounds on Friday, allowing 7 runs over 5 1/3 frames to take his 5th loss, while RHP Aaron Kurcz gave up 1 run in 1 inning of relief, and RHP Tanner Peters tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in his debut for Nashville. Third baseman Brent Morel singled, doubled and drove in a run, while designated hitter Jason Pridie singled in a pair, and left fielder Ryan Roberts singled, doubled, walked and scored for the Sounds. Before the game, RHP Brock Huntzinger was placed on the disabled list and Peters was added to the roster. And after the game, the A’s recalled RHP Aaron Brooks and optioned infielder Max Muncy back to Nashville.

Right fielder Matt Olson homered, doubled, walked twice and drove in 3 runs for the RockHounds, while third baseman Renato Nunez also homered for the Hounds, and second baseman Colin Walsh and center fielder Chad Oberacker had a pair of hits apiece in the loss. RHP Parker Frazier endured his roughest start yet for the RockHounds, allowing 8 runs over 4 1/3 innings to suffer his 2nd loss since joining Midland.

RHP Dylan Covey turned in a solid start for Stockton on Friday, allowing just 2 runs while walking none and striking out 7 over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss for the Ports. Stockton scored 1 run on just 3 hits on Friday. First baseman John Nogowski, second baseman Branden Cogswell and outfielder Brett Vertigan each singled in the loss.

Vermont came back to win in a walk-off for the second straight night on Friday. Third baseman Ryan Howell drove in the tying run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 2nd and then hit a 2-run homer in the 4th to give the Lake Monsters the lead. Catcher Tom Gavitt singled, doubled and drove in a run, while outfielder Seth Brown and designated hitter Brett Siddall both doubled in runs for Vermont. After Tri-City tied the game in the top of the 8th, outfielder Steven Pallares singled in the bottom of the 9th and eventually came around to score the winning run with the help of a fielding error. Starter Dustin Driver allowed 5 runs, just 1 earned, while walking 8 in just 3 1/3 innings of work. LHP Derek Beasley tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP John Gorman picked up the win despite giving up 2 runs to tie the game in the top of the 8th.
