Starter Aaron Brooks was impressive for the Sounds on Sunday, allowing 1 run on just 3 hits while walking none and striking out 8 over 7 innings of work to earn the win for Nashville. Catcher Bryan Anderson and shortstop Tyler Ladendorf each had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs, while second baseman Joey Wendle had 2 hits and drove in a pair. Third baseman Brent Morel collected 4 hits, including a double, and scored 3 times, and outfielder Craig Gentry had 3 hits and drove in a run for the Sounds.

RHP Parker Frazier turned in another strong start for Midland, allowing just 1 run over 7 innings of work to earn his 4th win on Sunday. Left fielder Josh Whitaker had a big day at the plate, collecting a single, a double and a home run while driving in 3 runs for the RockHounds. First baseman Anthony Aliotti started off the scoring with a 2-run homer in the top of the 1st, while shortstop Chad Pinder and right fielder Matt Olson hit back-to-back home runs in the 3rd, the 15th of the season for each. Pinder’s was a 2-run blast while Olson’s was a solo shot. Pinder also singled in a run in the 8th, and third baseman Ryon Healy collected 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and scored twice as the RockHounds won their fifth straight on Sunday. Meanwhile, RHP Jake Sanchez landed on the 7-day disabled list and RHP Tucker Healy was activated from the DL for Midland.

RHP Dylan Covey was solid in his second start since returning from the disabled list for Stockton, allowing just 1 run and striking out 8 over 7 innings of work to earn his 7th win on Sunday. Catcher Jacob Nottingham collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 3 runs, while shortstop Yairo Munoz singled twice, doubled and drove in a run. Designated hitter Michael Soto had 3 hits, and first baseman John Nogowski singled, doubled and drove in a run for Stockton.

After struggling through most of the first half of the season, RHP Heath Fillmyer turned in his fourth straight strong start for the Snappers on Sunday, striking out 7 over 5 scoreless innings to earn his 2nd win. LHP Mike Fagan and RHP Lee Sosa each tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to complete the 6-hit shutout for the Snappers. Third baseman Jose Brizuela doubled in a run to put Beloit on the board in the bottom of the 1st and hit a 2-run homer in the 3rd, while first baseman Max Kuhn had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in 3, and outfielder Justin Higley singled, doubled, walked twice, stole a base and scored 3 times for the Snappers.

After spending most of the season pitching out of the bullpen, RHP Corey Miller was solid in his second start for the Lake Monsters on Sunday, tossing 5 scoreless innings to earn his 2nd win, while converted catcher Ryan Gorton got the final six outs to notch his 3rd save and nail down the 6-hit shutout for Vermont. Third baseman Ryan Howell doubled in designated hitter Skye Bolt, who’d walked, in the top of the 5th inning to provide Vermont’s only run in the victory.

 

ARIZONA LEAGUE  (Rookie Short-Season)

Starter Dakota Chalmers struck out 4 over 2 scoreless innings to start things off right, and rehabbing RHP Tanner Peters then followed up with 3 scoreless frames of his own, but fellow rehabbing RHP Ryan Brasier allowed 2 runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief to take the loss. The A’s were shut out on just 5 hits on Sunday. Third baseman Miguel Mercedes singled and doubled and shortstop Eric Marinez had a pair of singles in the loss.
