In the completion of Wednesday’s suspended game, LHP Barry Zito took the mound with Nashville down by 3 runs and gave up just 1 hit over 6 shutout innings to keep the lid on Memphis and allow the Sounds to overcome a 3-run deficit, and the veteran ended up earning his 8th win for Nashville. Center fielder Craig Gentry singled and homered, while second baseman Joey Wendle doubled, tripled and scored twice. Right fielder Jason Pridie singled, doubled, walked and drove in 2 runs, including the tying run, and first baseman Max Muncy singled, doubled, walked and drove in the winning run for the Sounds.

With Wednesday’s suspended game forcing a doubleheader on Thursday, RHP Dan Otero came out of the bullpen to make an unexpected start and allowed just 1 hit while striking out 4 over 3 shutout innings to give the Sounds the chance to take an early 4-run lead in Thursday’s second game. Relievers Taylor Thompson, Phil Coke and Aaron Kurcz then combined on 4 scoreless innings in relief, with Thompson picking up his 1st win in the 8-hit shutout. Designated hitter Ryan Roberts ripped his 4th home run in the last 4 days, a 3-run shot in the 4th, while second baseman Joey Wendle had 4 hits, stole a pair of bases, drove in a run and scored twice, and first baseman Rangel Ravelo singled in a pair of runs in his Nashville debut.

Earlier in the inning, shortstop Yairo Munoz singled in the tying run for Stockton. Catcher Jacob Nottingham singled, doubled and walked, while third baseman Melvin Mercedes had 2 hits and drove in a run, and outfielder Brett Vertigan singled in a pair for the Ports. Starter Casey Meisner allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 4 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Ben Bracewell picked up the win despite giving up the go-ahead run in the top of the 8th, and RHP Corey Walter pitched a perfect 9th to post his 1st save for the Ports. Meanwhile, Stockton catcher Beau Taylor was activated from the disabled list and reassigned to the RockHounds.

RHP Heath Fillmyer turned in one of his better starts for the Snappers, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work, but he still ended up taking his 12th loss on Thursday. Meanwhile, RHP Lee Sosa gave up 6 runs in just 2/3 of an inning of relief for Beloit. The Snappers were shut out on just 6 hits on Thursday. Catcher Iolana Akau and outfielder James Harris had a pair of hits apiece in the loss. Meanwhile, RHP Rob Huber was placed on the disabled list and RHP Jon Massad was reassigned to the Snappers.

Center fielder Steven Pallares singled and tripled in a run, while catcher Nick Collins doubled in a run, and that was all the offense the Lake Monsters would need on Thursday. This year’s 6th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Bowdien Derby, was strong once again, striking out 4 in 3 scoreless and hitless innings to start things off right for Vermont, while RHP Corey Miller allowed just 1 unearned run over 4 innings in relief to earn the win, and RHP John Gorman got the final six outs for his 1st save. Meanwhile, Lake Monsters RHP Jon Massad was promoted to the Snappers.
