Stockton benefited from the long ball on Sunday night, slugging 5 home runs en route to besting Bakersfield in the second game of their 4-game series. First baseman John Nogowski hit 2 home runs and also doubled and scored and drove in another run on a sacrifice fly. Shortstop Franklin Barreto also belted a pair of home runs and singled and walked, while third baseman Matt Chapman hit his organization-leading 18th home run, a 2-run shot, for the Ports. Starter Kyle Finnegan allowed 2 runs over 5 innings of work to earn his 6th win for Stockton.

The Sounds were shut out on just 6 hits on Sunday. Center fielder Craig Gentry had a pair of singles, while third baseman Max Muncy doubled and walked. Starter Chris Bassitt tossed 4 scoreless frames before surrendering a run in both the 5th and 6th innings. Bassitt ended up allowing 2 runs while striking out 6 over 6 innings of work to take his 7th loss for the Sounds.

RHP Joey Wagman turned in a strong start for the Snappers on Sunday, allowing just 1 unearned run over 6 innings of work to earn his 4th win, while RHP Koby Gauna picked up his 2nd save despite giving up an unearned run in the 9th. Third baseman Jose Brizuela homered and doubled, while first baseman Max Kuhn singled and doubled, and outfielder Shawn Duinkerk and second baseman Trent Gilbert each singled in a run to help the Snappers win their third straight on Sunday.

The Lake Monsters scored 1 run on just 5 hits on Sunday. Designated hitter Nick Collins drove in Vermont’s only run in the 7th when he singled in third baseman Mikey White, who’d doubled. White also struck out 3 times in the game and made a fielding error that led to an unearned run in the 1st. RHP Heath Bowers allowed 1 unearned run in 1 inning of work to take the loss, while LHP Evan Manarino gave up 4 runs in 3 innings of relief for the Lake Monsters.

20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Ivan Andueza tossed 4 shutout innings to start things off right for the A’s on Sunday, but 19-year-old RHP Branden Kelliher allowed 5 runs in 2 1/3 innings of work, and RHP Yordy Alejo gave up 2 more runs in the 8th to put the A’s in a 3-run hole heading into the 9th. Then with two outs and two on, outfielder Brett Siddall slugged a 3-run homer to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th and send Sunday’s contest to extra innings. And the game remained tied until the top of the 11th, when RHP Brendan Butler gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, to take his 1st loss for the A’s.
