Shortstop Franklin Barreto continued his hot hitting of late on Monday, collecting 4 hits, including his 21st double and his 9th home run, while driving in 3 runs and scoring twice. And the 19-year-old has now put up a .404/.429/.660 slash line in 12 games in July. Center fielder Brett Vertigan singled, doubled and drove in a pair, while left fielder B.J. Boyd had 2 hits and swiped a pair of bases for the Ports. Starter Raul Alcantara was solid, tossing 4 shutout innings before giving way to RHP Sam Bragg, who picked up the win after allowing 1 run in 2 innings of relief for Stockton.

LHP Dillon Overton had his first shaky start since joining the RockHounds, allowing 4 runs over 5 innings of work to take the loss on Monday. Outfielder Chad Oberacker singled, walked and hit his 5th home run in the 4th inning to put the Hounds on the board, while second baseman Colin Walsh had a pair of hits, including his 11th home run in the 6th, and shortstop Chad Pinder and outfielders Matt Angle and Jaycob Brugman all doubled in the loss.

With one out, a man on and the game tied in the bottom of the 8th, designated hitter Seong-min Kim clubbed a 2-run homer to provide the margin of victory for Vermont on Monday. The Lake Monsters managed just two other hits in the game, both singles, courtesy of catcher Nick Collins and second baseman Trace Loehr. 24th-round RHP Heath Bowers started things off with 3 shutout innings, while RHP Cody Kurz tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief. 9th-round LHP Jared Lyons surrendered the lead with 2 runs in the top of the 6th, but 25th-round LHP Evan Manarino closed things out with 3 perfect innings in relief to pick up his 2nd win for the Lake Monsters.

Starter Branden Kelliher allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks in just 1 2/3 innings of work on Monday, while 20-year-old LHP Ivan Andueza gave up 2 runs in 2 innings of relief. 19-year-old RHP Emerson Nelo threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings, and 28th-round RHP Marc Berube gave up the winning run in the bottom of the 8th to take the loss for the A’s. Third baseman Edwin Diaz homered for the second straight day, hitting a 2-run shot in the top of the 5th, while outfielder Robert Martinez tripled in the tying run in the top of the 6th for the A’s.
