First baseman Chris Iriart collected 3 hits for the Lake Monsters for the second straight night. On Friday, two of them were doubles and he also ended up driving in 4 runs on the night. Outfielder Seth Brown had a pair of hits and drove in a run, while third baseman Mikey White singled, walked twice and drove in a pair. LHP Chris Kohler had a strong start, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work to earn his 2nd win, while RHP Bowdien Derby pitched 3 perfect innings in relief for the Lake Monsters.

RHP Cody Martin, recently acquired from Atlanta, had a rough start on Friday, allowing 8 runs in just 2 innings of work to take his 2nd loss. RHP Aaron Kurcz, also acquired from Atlanta, tossed 1 scoreless inning of relief in his debut for the Sounds. Shortstop Ryan Roberts homered with two outs in the top of the 1st inning to account for the Sounds’ only run, while outfielder Craig Gentry singled and doubled in the loss.

RHP Parker Frazier allowed just 1 run over 5 2/3 innings in his RockHounds debut on Friday, while RHP Ryan Doolittle was charged with 2 runs and exited without registering an out in the bottom of the 8th inning to take the loss. Designated hitter Bruce Maxwell had a pair of hits and drove in both the RockHounds’ runs on Friday, while shortstop Chad Pinder also had 2 hits and scored twice in the loss.

RHP Dylan Covey had his third straight shaky start for Stockton, allowing 6 runs over 4 2/3 innings to take his 5th loss on Friday. Outfielder Brett Vertigan doubled twice, walked, drove in a run and scored twice, while third baseman Matt Chapman had 2 hits and drove in a pair. Designated hitter Michael Soto hit his 6th home run, and shortstop Franklin Barreto singled, doubled and scored a run for Stockton.

RHP Daniel Gossett delivered a strong start for the Snappers, allowing 2 runs on just 4 hits over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss on Friday. LHP Cody Stull was charged with 5 runs without registering an out in the top of the 8th inning, while LHP Mike Fagan gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of relief, and RHP Lee Sosa pitched a perfect 9th for Beloit. Shortstop Yairo Munoz hit his 8th home run to account for the Snappers’ only run and to briefly tie the game in the bottom of the 6th, while catcher Argenis Raga and outfielder Joe Bennie both singled and doubled in the loss. To make room for Fagan’s and Sosa’s additions to the roster, LHP Jerad Grundy and RHP Dominique Vattuone were both released on Friday.

21-year-old Venezuelan RHP Angel Duno had another solid start for the A’s on Friday, allowing 2 runs while striking out 4 over 5 innings of work to earn his 3rd win, while RHPs Brendan Butler and Dustin Hurlbutt both tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief. Third baseman Miguel Mercedes singled in a pair of runs in the top of the 2nd, while first baseman Shane Conlon and outfielder Luis Barrera each singled, walked and drove in a run for the A’s.
