Outfielder Jason Pridie slugged a 3-run homer in the 1st inning to give the Sounds an early lead in the second game of Thursday’s doubleheader at Memphis. Pridie also drew a pair of walks in the game and hit a 2-run homer a little earlier in the evening in the first game of the doubleheader. After Memphis tied the game in the bottom of the 5th, third baseman Max Muncy then singled in a pair of runs in the top of the 6th to provide the margin of victory for Nashville. Starter Zach Neal allowed 3 runs over 7 innings to earn his 7th win as the Sounds swept the doubleheader on Thursday.

LHP Barry Zito turned in his fourth straight quality start for the Sounds, allowing just 2 runs over 7 innings to earn his 6th win in the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader. Outfielder Jason Pridie hit a 2-run homer to put Nashville on the board in the top of the 4th and then drove in another run on a sacrifice fly in the 5th, while outfielder Craig Gentry and third baseman Max Muncy both doubled for the Sounds.

Second baseman Wade Kirkland and shortstop Chad Pinder both doubled – though Pinder was thrown out trying to steal third – while outfielder Matt Angle and Matt Olson, getting his second straight start at third base, both singled. RHP Chris Jensen had his fourth straight rocky start for the RockHounds, allowing 4 runs over 5 2/3 innings to take his 9th loss.

Outfielder Tyler Marincov smacked a 2-run homer in the 3rd inning to provide the Ports with all their scoring on the night.

This year’s 27th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Xavier Altamirano, gave up 3 runs in 3 innings of work to take his 1st loss on Thursday, while 18-year-old Venezuelan RHP Jesus Zambrano gave up 3 more runs over 3 2/3 innings, and converted catcher Ryan Gorton tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. Left fielder Robert Martinez doubled in the A’s only run in the top of the 7th, while right fielder Brett Siddall singled and doubled in the loss.
