With two on, two outs and the game tied in the bottom of the 5th, outfielder Chad Oberacker singled in a pair of runs to give the RockHounds a 2-run lead on Tuesday night. Oberacker also doubled, walked and drove in another run in the game, while second baseman Colin Walsh hit his 10th home run to lead off the 5th, and catcher Bruce Maxwell, shortstop Chad Pinder and first baseman Matt Olson each had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds. After three straight quality starts, RHP Jake Sanchez had a rough outing on Tuesday, allowing 6 runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings, and he left the game with his team down by 3 runs. RHP Andres Avila pitched 2 1/3 perfect innings in relief to earn his 1st win, while RHP Seth Frankoff allowed 2 unearned runs in the 9th, with the help of a fielding error by third baseman Renato Nunez, but held on to pick up his 4th save for the Hounds.

RHP Nate Long turned in his second straight strong start for the Sounds on Tuesday, allowing 2 runs on just 3 hits while striking out 8 over 6 1/3 innings of work, and he left with the game a 2-2 tie. Long has now allowed just a pair of runs while striking out 13 over 13 1/3 innings in his two starts since joining the Sounds last week. Shortstop Ryan Roberts hit a 2-run homer in the 4th to give Nashville an early lead. After Round Rock tied the game in the bottom of the 7th, second baseman Joey Wendle scored the winning run in the top of the 8th on Roberts’ single and a fielding error, and Roberts then came around to score on outfielder Jason Pridie’s third single of the night. LHP Jim Fuller picked up the win after tossing 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Arnold Leon got the final four outs to post his 1st save for the Sounds. In other news, with RHP Chris Bassitt returning to Nashville, the A’s recalled outfielder Jake Smolinski from the Sounds.

Starter Kyle Finnegan had an impressive outing for Stockton on Tuesday, allowing just 1 run over 7 innings of work, but he left with the game a 1-1 tie. LHP Phil Coke tossed a scoreless 8th, while RHP Brendan McCurry threw 2 shutout innings in relief, but RHP Ben Bracewell gave up 2 runs in the top of the 11th to take the loss. Outfielder Tyler Marincov homered in the 6th to provide the Ports’ only run on the night and also doubled and walked in the game, while second baseman Branden Cogswell singled, doubled and walked in the loss.

 

MIDWEST LEAGUE  (Class-A)

RHP Brett Graves had a strong start for the Snappers, allowing just 1 run over 5 2/3 innings to earn his 7th win on Tuesday. Outfielder Max Kuhn singled, doubled and drove in a run, while third baseman Jose Brizuela singled, walked and drove in 3. Shortstop Yairo Munoz singled, walked twice, stole a base and drove in a run, while first baseman Sandber Pimentel singled twice and scored twice for the Snappers.

 

ARIZONA LEAGUE  (Rookie Short-Season)

This year’s 3rd-round draft pick for the A’s, 18-year-old RHP Dakota Chalmers, allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings of work in his second appearance for the A’s. 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Argenis Blanco gave up 4 runs, just 1 earned, over 5 innings to take his 1st loss on Tuesday. 13th-round Canadian outfielder Brett Siddall singled, walked and hit his 1st home run for the A’s, while shortstop Eric Marinez singled, doubled and scored a run in the loss.
