With the game tied in the top of the 9th, outfielder Jaycob Brugman led off the inning with his 3rd home run for Midland to provide the winning run as the RockHounds snapped their 3-game losing streak on Wednesday. Brugman also had a pair of singles and drove in the Hounds’ first run of the game in the 2nd. Outfielder Chad Oberacker collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 3 runs, while second baseman Wade Kirkland also had 3 hits and scored 3 times. Catcher Carson Blair had 2 hits and 2 walks, and shortstop Chad Pinder and outfielder Josh Whitaker drove in a pair of runs apiece in the win. Starter Nate Long had a rare rough outing for the RockHounds, allowing 8 runs in 5 innings of work, while RHP Kris Hall gave up 1 run in 2 innings of relief, and RHP Tucker Healy pitched 2 perfect innings to earn his 3rd win on Wednesday.

Second baseman Joey Wendle had a big day at the plate, collecting 4 hits, including 2 doubles, and drove in a pair of runs, while outfielders Craig Gentry and Jake Smolinski had 3 hits apiece in the loss.

LHP Mike Fagan struck out 4 in 3 perfect innings of relief to give Vermont the chance to climb back within a run, but LHP Tyler Painton surrendered another run in the 9th. Shortstop Jesus Lopez reached base 3 times, on a single, a double and a walk, while outfielder Shawn Duinkerk and third baseman Gabriel Santana had a pair of hits apiece in the loss.

18-year-old Venezuelan RHP Jesus Zambrano allowed 2 runs in 4 innings of work to take the loss on Wednesday. 16th-round RHP Dustin Hurlbutt gave up 3 runs while registering just one out in the 5th inning, while 20th-round RHP James Naile got the final two outs of the 5th in his professional debut for the A’s. Former catcher Ryan Gorton allowed 1 unearned run in 1 inning of relief, and 19-year-old RHP Emerson Nelo gave up 1 run in 3 innings of work. Shortstop Eric Marinez and second baseman Carlos Hiciano had a pair of hits apiece, while 13th-round outfielder Brett Siddall, third baseman Jean Carlo Rodriguez and designated hitter Jhonny Rodriguez each singled, walked and drove in a run in the loss.
