After experiencing a few ups and downs in his first four starts at Beloit, RHP Dustin Driver came out strong in his first start for Vermont, allowing just 1 unearned run on 2 hits and 2 walks over 5 innings of work, and he left with the game a 1-1 tie on Monday. LHP Derek Beasley tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win for the Lake Monsters. Catcher Iolana Akau and 4th-round center fielder Skye Bolt hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the 6th, while right fielder Shawn Duinkerk and 12th-round first baseman Chris Iriart both doubled and drove in a pair. 10th-round left fielder Steven Pallares reached base 4 times, on 3 hits and a walk, and 2nd-round shortstop Mikey White went 1 for 4 to collect his first hit in pro ball on Monday.

Second Baseman Colin Walsh

Second baseman Colin Walsh led off the game with his 8th home run of the season to give the RockHounds a quick lead in the top of the 1st on Monday. Walsh would also walk 3 times and swipe his 5th base before the game was through, while outfielder Matt Angle singled in a pair of runs to briefly give the Hounds the lead in the 8th. Starter Jonathan Joseph allowed 2 runs over 5 innings of work, while RHP Ryan Doolittle gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, in 3 innings of relief to take the loss. In other news, RockHounds RHP Chris Jensen was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week after allowing just 1 earned run in 14 innings over his last 2 starts for Midland. And RHP Bobby Wahl was placed on the disabled list and LHP Omar Duran joined the RockHounds roster from Stockton.

19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Argenis Blanco was solid in his first start for the AZL A’s, allowing just 2 runs over 5 innings of work to earn his 1st win on Monday. RHP Phillip Ortiz, 21st-round LHP Andrew Tomasovich and 29th-round RHP Armando Ruiz each tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief for the A’s. 11th-round center fielder James Terrell and 35th-round shortstop Tim Proudfoot both doubled and drove in a pair, while right fielder Jhonny Rodriguez had 3 hits and drove in a run. Left fielder Luis Barrera reached base 4 times, on 2 hits and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times, and first baseman Rangel Ravelo, who’s on a rehab assignment from Nashville, singled in a pair of runs and walked 3 times for the A’s. Meanwhile, 16th-round RHP Dustin Hurlbutt, 31st-round RHP John Gorman and 33rd-round outfielder Mike Martin were added to the AZL A’s roster on Monday.
