RHP Kyle Finnegan turned in a strong start for Stockton on Monday, allowing just 1 run over 6 innings of work to earn his 4th win. The 23-year-old had given up 12 earned runs in 14 2/3 innings over his last 3 starts for the Ports. A’s RHP Edward Mujica made his first rehab appearance for Stockton and struck out 2 in a spotless 7th. RHP Corey Walter also struck out a pair in the 8th, and RHP Trevor Bayless pitched a perfect 9th in his return from the disabled list. Outfielder Tyler Marincov singled, doubled and drove in 3, while third baseman Matt Chapman doubled in a pair in the 2nd. After collecting 4 hits on Sunday, shortstop Franklin Barreto had 3 hits, including a double, on Monday, and first baseman John Nogowski and second baseman Branden Cogswell had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. While Trevor Bayless was activated from the disabled list on Monday, outfielder J.P. Sportman returned to the disabled list for Stockton.

RHP Chris Bassitt got off to a shaky start by giving up runs in each of the first three innings for the Sounds on Monday. And Bassitt ended up allowing 4 runs over 5 innings of work to take his 5th loss as the Sounds dropped their fifth straight. Rehabbing first baseman Ike Davis singled in the Sounds’ only 2 runs of the game in the bottom of the 8th, while shortstop Niuman Romero reached base twice, on a single and a walk, and second baseman Joey Wendle and third baseman Ryan Roberts both doubled in the loss.

After giving up 7 runs in his last outing, RHP Tim Atherton had a solid start for Midland on Monday, allowing just 2 runs and striking out 4 over 6 innings of work to earn his 3rd win for the RockHounds. RHP Ryan Doolittle tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Ryan Dull got the final three outs in the 9th for his 5th save. Outfielder Josh Whitaker singled, doubled and drove in a pair, while shortstop Chad Pinder doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs in his first game back in action after missing a week and a half with a sore hip. Second baseman Colin Walsh reached base 3 times, on a pair of singles and a walk, and outfielder Chad Oberacker doubled, walked and scored twice in the team’s second straight win after dropping eight straight. Meanwhile, eight RockHounds were named to the Texas League South All-Star squad on Monday: catcher Carson Blair, first baseman Matt Olson, second baseman Colin Walsh, shortstop Chad Pinder, third baseman Ryon Healy, outfielder Chad Oberacker and RHPs Nate Long and Ryan Dull.

RHP Heath Fillmyer had another rough start on Monday and ended up being charged with 7 runs on 5 hits and 5 walks in just 2 innings of work to take his 7th loss for the Snappers. Beloit managed to score 7 runs on just 4 hits on Monday. Outfielder Justin Higley walked, stole a base and hit his 1st home run since his return to the Snappers, while designated hitter Joe Bennie doubled in a run, and outfielder James Harris and first baseman Sandber Pimentel both singled in a run in the loss.
