RHP Nate Long turned in his 4th straight quality start to snap Midland’s 8-game losing streak on Sunday. The 29-year-old minor league veteran struck out 5 while throwing 7 2/3 shutout innings to earn his 4th win for the RockHounds, and Long now leads all A’s minor league pitchers with 64 strikeouts. RHP Tucker Healy tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to complete the shutout on Sunday. Third baseman Renato Nunez singled, doubled and hit his team-leading 8th home run, a 2-run shot in the bottom of the 1st, and ended up driving in 3 runs for the RockHounds. Center fielder Chad Oberacker singled, doubled, tripled, walked and scored 4 times, while designated hitter Matt Olson singled, walked 4 times, drove in 2 runs and scored twice, and outfielders Jaycob Brugman and Josh Whitaker had a pair of hits apiece in the Hounds’ first win in over a week.

Starter Brad Mills allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over just 2 1/3 innings to take the loss as the Dodgers completed their 4-game sweep of the Sounds on Sunday. Mills exited the game with one out in the bottom of the 3rd inning with an apparent leg injury. The Sounds managed just 2 runs on 6 hits, with all the scoring occurring in the top of the 3rd. Left fielder Alden Carrithers doubled and scored on designated hitter Anthony Aliotti’s RBI single, who then scored on right fielder Jason Pridie’s two-out single to complete the scoring for the Sounds.

Shortstop Franklin Barreto had a big day at the plate for the Ports, collecting 4 hits, including his 6th home run to tie the game in the top of the 6th. Designated hitter Michael Soto had a pair of singles and a 2-run homer to briefly give Stockton the lead in the 5th. Outfielder Tyler Marincov homered and doubled, while second baseman Melvin Mercedes had 3 hits and scored twice. Catcher Nick Rickles singled in 2 runs in the 8th, and first baseman John Nogowski and outfielders Brett Vertigan and B.J. Boyd each walked and had a pair of hits for the Ports. Starter Dylan Covey gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, and struck out 6 over 5 innings of work, while RHP Ben Bracewell picked up the win despite allowing 2 runs in 3 innings of relief, and RHP Brendan McCurry tossed a scoreless 9th to notch his 9th save for Stockton.

RHP Joey Wagman allowed 4 runs on 6 hits in just 3 innings of work to take the loss in his first start of the season for the Snappers. Left fielder Joe Bennie singled, walked and doubled in a pair of runs to put the Snappers on the board in the top of the 4th, while center fielder James Harris had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, and catcher Andy Paz singled, doubled and drove in a run as the Snappers suffered their fifth loss in their last six games.
