RHP Tim Atherton had another rough start for the RockHounds, allowing 8 runs, 7 earned, over just 4 innings of work on Wednesday to take his 3rd loss. RHPs Kris Hall, Tucker Healy and Seth Frankoff combined to hold the Hooks scoreless over 5 innings to give their team a chance, but the Hounds came up one run short. Outfielder Josh Whitaker slugged his 6th home run to put Midland on the board in the bottom of the 4th. Then, with the bases loaded in the 5th, Whitaker doubled to clear the bases. Designated hitter Matt Olson doubled home Whitaker and also drew a pair of walks in the game, while first baseman Ryon Healy doubled in a run in the 4th, and hot-hitting second baseman Colin Walsh doubled and singled in a run for the RockHounds.

Starter Kyle Finnegan gave up just 1 run over the first 5 innings before surrendering a 2-run homer in the top of the 6th, and Finnegan ended up allowing 3 runs while striking out 5 over 5 2/3 innings to take his 4th loss. Stockton scored just 1 run on 5 hits on Wednesday. Shortstop Franklin Barreto doubled and came in to score Stockton’s only run on outfielder Brett Vertigan’s sacrifice fly in the 8th, while catcher Nick Rickles tripled and first baseman Michael Soto doubled in the loss.

The Snappers surrendered 12 runs as they were bested by Bowling Green on Wednesday. Starter Heath Fillmyer was charged with 3 runs in 4 innings of work, while RHP Rob Huber allowed 1 run in 1 1/3 innings of relief. LHP Cody Stull was charged with 3 runs in the 7th to take the loss, and RHP Carlos Navas surrendered another 5 runs for the Snappers. Third baseman Jose Brizuela had 2 doubles, drove in 2 runs and made 2 errors, while shortstop Yairo Munoz collected 3 hits, scored twice and stole a base in the loss.
