Third baseman Renato Nunez and designated hitter Bruce Maxwell each singled in a run to give the Hounds a 2-run lead before outfielder Jaycob Brugman stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and slugged a grand slam to put the game out of reach. Nunez also homered for the second straight day, smacking a 2-run homer in the 7th, while catcher Carson Blair followed Nunez’s blast with a solo shot of his own in the 7th to tie the game. Shortstop Chad Pinder contributed 4 hits, including a double, and scored on Nunez’s homer in the 7th. Starter Tim Atherton was a little shaky, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks over 5 innings of work, but Midland’s bullpen was solid. RHPs Andres Avila, Tucker Healy, Bobby Wahl, Ryan Dull and Kris Hall combined to hold Tulsa scoreless for 9 innings, with Hall picking up his 1st win after pitching 2 perfect innings in relief.
