WP – Paterson 2-2 / 6.14

Farmhand Of The Game:

(6 IP / 5 H / 0 ER / 0 BB / 11 K)

RHP Chris Bassitt turned in his most impressive start this season for the Sounds, allowing just 1 unearned run on 5 hits while walking none and striking out 11 over 6 innings of work on Wednesday. And over his last two starts, Bassitt has now allowed just 1 earned run in 11 2/3 innings for Nashville. But the Sounds failed to score until the 7th inning, when shortstop Ryan Roberts singled in a pair of runs to give Nashville the lead. Third baseman Matt Carson doubled in a run in the 9th, while outfielder Kent Matthes singled, tripled and walked, and second baseman Joey Wendle had a pair of singles and drove in a run for the Sounds. LHP Jose Paterson tossed a scoreless 7th to pick up his 1st win for Nashville, while RHP Brock Huntzinger struck out the side in the 8th, and RHP R.J. Alvarez got the final three outs in the 9th to close things out for the Sounds. And with Drew Pomeranz returning from the disabled list for the A’s, RHP Arnold Leon was optioned back to Nashville on Wednesday.

RHP Nate Long had another solid start for the RockHounds on Wednesday, allowing 3 runs, just 2 earned, while striking out 6 over 6 innings of work, and he left the game with his team down by a run. But shortstop Chad Pinder slugged his 7th home run in the top of the 9th to tie the game and send it to extra innings. Then with a man on in the top of the 11th, third baseman Renato Nunez belted his 4th home run to provide the margin of victory for Midland on Wednesday afternoon. Farmhand Of The Game:

Shortstop Yairo Munoz

(3 for 5 / Home Run / 4 RBIs / Stolen Base)

Shortstop Yairo Munoz had another big night at the plate for Beloit. With two on, two outs and the game tied in the bottom of the 9th, Munoz singled in the winning run to give the Snappers the walk-off win on Wednesday. The 20-year-old infielder also singled and stole his 6th base in the 1st and then slugged a 3-run homer in the 3rd. Second baseman Trent Gilbert had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in 2 runs, while catcher Jose Chavez walked twice and singled in a run for the Snappers. RHP Dustin Driver returned from the disabled list to make the start and allowed 5 runs, 4 earned, but left the game early after just 2 innings, and it appears that he may still be bothered by the blister that landed him on the DL. RHP Kevin Johnson then allowed 2 more runs in 3 innings of work, while RHP Joey Wagman earned the win with 2 scoreless innings in relief. Besides Driver’s return to the roster, RHP Koby Gauna also joined the Snappers after serving his 50-game suspension for testing positive for a drug of abuse, while RHPs Jordan Schwartz and Corey Miller were reassigned to Vermont.
