With two on, one out and his team down by a run in the top of the 8th inning, outfielder Max Kuhn drove an 0-2 pitch over the left field wall to provide the margin of victory for the Snappers on Saturday. Designated hitter Joe Bennie singled and doubled in a pair of runs in the 3rd for Beloit. Starter Junior Mendez was charged with 3 runs over 5 innings of work, while Kuhn’s big blow helped LHP Cody Stull pick up the win despite giving up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 7th, and RHP Rob Huber tossed a scoreless 8th and 9th to earn his 4th save for the Snappers.

With two outs, a man on and the game tied in the bottom of the 6th, Matt Carson – making his first professional start at third base – singled in the winning run to help the Sounds win their sixth straight on Saturday. Carson singled in another run in the 7th, while first baseman Anthony Aliotti also had a pair of singles and drove in a run, and second baseman Joey Wendle and outfielders Kent Matthes and Jason Pridie each singled and doubled in the win. Starter Sean Nolin struggled with his command but still ended up allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 4 walks while throwing 78 pitches in just 4 innings of work for the Sounds. LHP Ryan Verdugo tossed 2 1/3 shutout innings to earn his 2nd win, while switch-pitcher Pat Venditte struck out 3 over 1 2/3 scoreless frames, and RHP Ryan Cook pitched a perfect 9th to close things out for Nashville. And with LHP Sean Doolittle’s return to the disabled list, Sounds RHP Angel Castro was recalled by the A’s.

RHP Jake Sanchez turned in a solid start on Saturday, allowing just 2 runs over 6 innings of work to earn his 4th win for the RockHounds. RHP Ryan Doolittle gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of relief, while RHP Bobby Wahl tossed 2 scoreless frames to post his 4th save. Center fielder Jaycob Brugman collected 4 hits, including a triple, and scored twice, while Colin Walsh – getting the start in left field – singled, tripled and drove in 2 runs. Shortstop Chad Pinder singled, doubled and drove in a pair, and right fielder Josh Whitaker had a pair of doubles and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

RHP Kyle Finnegan had a shaky start for Stockton on Saturday, surrendering 5 runs over 4 innings of work to take his 3rd loss, while A’s LHP Eric O’Flaherty allowed 1 unearned run on 1 hit while throwing 12 pitches, 9 for strikes, in 1 inning of relief in his first rehab appearance for the Ports. Second baseman Melvin Mercedes singled, doubled, tripled and drove in a pair of runs, while shortstop Franklin Barreto singled, walked and homered, and outfielder Justin Higley, catcher Beau Taylor and designated hitter Michael Soto each doubled in a run in the loss.

After being suspended with two outs in the top of the 6th inning and the game tied 3-3 on Friday, the Snappers ended up dropping the match by a score of 5-3 on Saturday. Starter Kevin Johnson allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, in 4 innings of work, while RHP Heath Fillmyer gave up 2 runs over 2 2/3 innings to take his 5th loss. Third baseman Jose Brizuela walked, stole a base and doubled in 2 runs, while outfielders James Harris and Joe Bennie had a pair of hits apiece for the Snappers.
