The RockHounds shut out Tulsa on just 5 hits on Thursday. After a 90-minute rain delay, RHP Nate Long took the mound and ended up striking out 8 over 7 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win for the Hounds. It was the 29-year-old’s sixth quality start since moving into Midland’s starting rotation in late-April. RHP Jonathan Joseph tossed a scoreless 8th and 9th to close things out for the RockHounds. Top prospect Matt Olson, making his 12th start this season in right field, drew 3 walks, singled and slugged his team-leading 7th home run, while second baseman Colin Walsh clubbed his 5th homer. Catcher Carson Blair drew a pair of walks and doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs, and outfielder Chad Oberacker collected 2 doubles and drove in a pair to help the Hounds notch their fourth win in their last five games.

LHP Brad Mills turned in another strong start for the Sounds, allowing 2 runs on just 3 hits over 7 innings of work to earn his 2nd win as Nashville completed its 4-game sweep of Sacramento at Raley Field on Thursday. Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte tossed a scoreless 8th and RHP Angel Castro got the final three outs in the 9th to pick up the save in his first game since returning to Nashville. The Sounds were scoreless after the first 7 innings, until third baseman Ryan Roberts singled in outfielder Craig Gentry in the top of the 8th. It was Roberts’ fourth hit of the game, and outfielder Jason Pridie followed it up by tripling in the tying and winning runs for Nashville. First baseman Anthony Aliotti had a pair of hits, while second baseman Joey Wendle singled and scored the tying run for the Sounds.

It’s been feast or famine for Stockton starter Lou Trivino lately. Over his last 5 starts, he’s now given up 6 or more runs in 3 of them while allowing 1 or fewer runs in 2 of them. And Thursday was one of the rough ones. The 23-year-old was charged with 6 runs in 3 1/3 innings of work to take his 3rd loss for Stockton. The Ports were shut out on just 5 hits, 3 of them doubles – one each courtesy of shortstop Franklin Barreto, outfielder Tyler Marincov and designated hitter Michael Soto. Third baseman Matt Chapman and outfielder Brett Vertigan singled in the loss.

Hot-hitting designated hitter Sandber Pimentel smashed a 2-run homer in the top of the 1st inning on Thursday. It was his third round-tripper in the last three days and his organization-leading 9th on the season. Second baseman Trent Gilbert also homered in the 1st, while outfielder James Harris had a pair of doubles for the Snappers. Starter Jordan Schwartz was charged with 3 runs in 2 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Corey Miller gave up 2 runs, one the tying run in the 7th and the other the winning run in the bottom of the 9th to take the loss and give Burlington the walk-off win on Thursday.
