For his second start in a row, the A’s 2nd-round pick in last year’s draft, RHP Daniel Gossett, allowed just 1 earned run while striking out 7 for the Snappers. Gossett pitched 5 2/3 innings to earn his 1st victory of the season. Outfielder Joe Bennie had another big night at the plate, collecting a home run and a double and driving in 3, while first baseman Max Kuhn doubled in a run and walked twice. Shortstop Yairo Munoz singled in a pair, and outfielder Brett Vertigan drew 3 walks and scored 3 times for the Snappers.

Starter Barry Zito gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, on 7 hits and 5 walks over 5 2/3 innings to take his 3rd loss as Nashville dropped its sixth straight on Tuesday. LHP Sean Nolin allowed 1 walk and struck out 2 in 1 scoreless inning of relief in his first rehab appearance for the Sounds, while LHP Jim Fuller tossed 2 shutout innings in his Nashville debut. The Sounds were shut out on just 5 hits. Outfielder Jason Pridie doubled and walked, while designated hitter Nate Freiman went 1 for 4 with 2 strikeouts in his second rehab appearance for the Sounds.

Midland managed just 4 hits in the game. Designated hitter Renato Nunez drew a walk and singled in the RockHounds’ only run in the 7th, while shortstop Chad Pinder and third baseman Ryon Healy each singled and walked, and first baseman Matt Olson and outfielder Matt Oberacker both drew a pair of walks in the loss.

Outfielder B.J. Boyd had a big night at the plate on Tuesday, collecting a home run and a double and driving in 3, while catcher Nick Rickles singled, homered and drove in a pair, and second baseman Branden Cogswell singled, doubled and drove in the Ports’ final run in the 8th. Starter Dillon Overton allowed just 1 run while striking out 4 over 4 innings of work. RHP Sam Bragg struck out 4 over 3 shutout innings to earn the win, while RHPs Ben Bracewell and Trevor Bayless each tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief for Stockton.
