The A’s 2nd-round pick in last year’s draft, RHP Daniel Gossett, had his best outing so far this season for the Snappers. The 22-year-old allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on just 1 hit, a solo home run in the 3rd, while striking out 7 over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up taking his 3rd loss on Thursday. LHP Cody Stull tossed a scoreless 7th, while RHP Rob Huber gave up 1 run in the 8th. Beloit managed just 4 hits in the game, with first baseman Sandber Pimentel homering in the top of the 4th to provide the Snappers with their only run in the loss.

With two outs and a man on in the top of the 5th, left fielder Jason Pridie slugged his 2nd home run of the season, a 2-run shot that brought the Sounds within a run of Round Rock on Thursday. Center fielder Billy Burns collected 3 hits, while second baseman Joey Wendle singled, doubled and drove in a run for Nashville. Starter Barry Zito allowed 6 runs, 4 earned, over 4 2/3 innings to take his 2nd loss for the Sounds.

With Corpus Christi scoring early and often on Thursday, Midland never stood a chance. RHP Zach Neal, in his first start since returning to the RockHounds from Nashville, surrendered 7 runs and exited before registering an out in the top of the 3rd inning. RHP Kris Hall followed with 3 perfect innings in relief, while RHP Jonathan Joseph gave up 1 run in 3 innings of work. Shortstop Wade Kirkland had a pair of hits and drove in the RockHounds’ only run of the game.
