Third Baseman Michael Soto

(Home Run / 3 RBIs)

With two on and two outs in the bottom of the 1st inning, third baseman Michael Soto slugged a 3-run homer to give Stockton an early lead on Wednesday. Designated hitter Beau Taylor followed up with a solo shot of his own in the 1st. First baseman John Nogowski walked and singled in outfielder J.P. Sportman, who’d tripled to lead off the 7th, while shortstop Branden Cogswell singled, walked twice and scored twice in the win. Starter Kyle Finnegan was charged with 4 runs on 5 hits and 5 walks over 4 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Jonathan Joseph gave up 1 run 2 2/3 innings of relief to pick up his 2nd win, and RHP Andres Avila got the final four outs to earn his 1st save for Stockton.

With Wednesday’s scheduled starter Arnold Leon headed to California to join the A’s bullpen in Anaheim, RHP Nate Long was called up from Midland to make the start for Nashville. Long allowed 4 runs on 7 hits over 4 2/3 innings to take the loss. Shortstop Andy Parrino reached base 4 times, on a pair of singles, a triple and a walk, and drove in a run, while outfielder Jason Pridie singled and homered in the loss. On Tuesday, infielder Tyler Ladendorf was placed on the 7-day disabled list with an ankle injury, while catcher Blake Forsythe was activated off the DL for the Sounds.

Starter Heath Fillmyer allowed 4 runs over 7 innings to take his 2nd loss on Wednesday, while RHP Carlos Navas tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief for the Snappers. Catcher Argenis Raga collected 3 hits, while outfielder Robert Martinez singled, doubled and scored twice. First baseman Max Kuhn doubled and walked twice, and shortstop Melvin Mercedes and designated hitter Sandber Pimentel both singled and drove in a run for Beloit.
