Outfielder Brett Vertigan had a big night for Beloit, collecting 3 hits, including a double in the 7th inning to drive in the tying and go-ahead run for the Snappers on Saturday. Designated hitter Sandber Pimentel doubled and walked, while catcher Argenis Raga singled, walked and scored twice in the win. Starter Junior Mendez allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, in 4 innings of work, while LHP Jose Torres struck out 3 over 3 scoreless innings to earn the win, and RHP Rob Huber gave up 1 run in 2 innings of relief to pick up his 1st save for the Snappers.

Starter Brad Mills allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, on 6 hits over 5 innings to take his 2nd loss for the Sounds, while relievers Brock Huntzinger, Eury De La Rosa and Kevin Whelan combined on 4 scoreless innings in relief. Designated hitter Kent Matthes singled, doubled and scored the tying run for the Sounds in the 4th on left fielder Anthony Aliotti’s RBI single, while second baseman Joey Wendle doubled in a run, and catcher Luke Carlin and third baseman Alden Carrithers each drew a pair of walks in the loss.

Starter Jake Sanchez allowed 5 runs while striking out 8 over 5 2/3 innings to take his 2nd loss on Saturday, while RHP Tucker Healy tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Seth Frankoff struck out the side in the bottom of the 8th for Midland. The RockHounds managed just 4 hits in the game. Second baseman Colin Walsh singled and walked twice, while catcher Bruce Maxwell and outfielders Bobby Crocker and Chad Oberacker all doubled, and designated hitter Carson Blair drew 3 walks for Midland in the loss.

Left fielder B.J. Boyd belted a 2-run homer to tie the game in the bottom of the 5th for the Ports, but it took 11 innings for Stockton pull out the victory on Saturday. Right fielder Justin Higley had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, drove in a run and scored 2 runs, including the game-winning run in the 11th on center fielder J.P. Sportman’s sacrifice fly. First baseman Michael Soto had a pair of hits, while catcher Beau Taylor and third baseman Jose Brizuela both singled in a run in the win. Starter Dillon Overton allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, while striking out 5 over 3 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Andres Avila struck out 4 in 3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win for Stockton.
