After scoring just 8 runs over their first 4 games, the Ports managed to push 13 runs across the plate on Monday. Outfielder Tyler Marincov had 3 hits, including a triple, and drove in 5 runs, including 4 of Stockton’s first 6 runs to help build the Ports’ lead. J.P. Sportman, getting the start at second base, homered, had a pair of singles and drove in 3, while first baseman John Nogowski collected 4 hits, including a double. Third baseman Michael Soto reached base 4 times on a double, a pair of singles and a walk, and shortstop Franklin Barreto and outfielder Justin Higley both hit their 1st home runs for the Ports. Starter Lou Trivino was in command early on, allowing just 1 unearned run through the first 5 innings. He was charged with 3 runs in the 6th though, but was still able to walk away with the win in his debut for Stockton.

Starter Brad Mills had a shaky outing for the Sounds on Monday, allowing 5 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks over 3 2/3 innings to take the loss, but the bullpen held Oklahoma City hitless. Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte pitched 2 1/3 perfect innings in relief, while RHP Brock Huntzinger struck out the side in the 7th, and LHP Eury De La Rosa tossed a scoreless 8th. Meanwhile, Nashville managed just 4 hits in the game. Shortstop Andy Parrino homered, while outfielder Anthony Aliotti singled, and first baseman Max Muncy and third baseman Alden Carrithers both doubled for the Sounds. To make room for Tyler Ladendorf’s addition to the roster, outfielder Matt Angle was reassigned to Midland.

First baseman Matt Olson had another big night for Midland on Monday, collecting 3 hits, including his 2nd home run and his 1st double, while driving in 3 runs. Designated hitter Chad Oberacker homered and drove in a pair, while left fielder Bobby Crocker singled, doubled, walked and drove in a run, and center fielder Matt Angle tripled and scored a run in his first game for the RockHounds after being reassigned from Nashville. Starter Chris Lamb surrendered 6 runs in the 1st inning then followed up with 3 scoreless frames and ended up taking the loss in his Midland debut, while RHP Ryan Doolittle allowed 2 more runs in 2 innings of relief for the RockHounds.

RHP Junior Mendez had a rough outing on Monday, allowing 8 runs on 13 hits over just 3 1/3 innings to take the loss for the Snappers. Beloit batters managed just 5 hits in the game. Third baseman Melvin Mercedes had a pair of singles, while left fielder Robert Martinez doubled, and center fielder Brett Vertigan and second baseman Trent Gilbert both singled in Beloit’s 4th straight loss.
