Nashville exploded for 16 runs at Colorado Springs on Sunday. Second baseman Joey Wendle belted 2 home runs, a 3-run shot in the 6th and a solo shot in the 8th, while shortstop Andy Parrino, catcher Bryan Anderson and designated hitter Kent Matthes all homered as well. Third baseman Alden Carrithers reached based 5 times on 4 hits and a walk, and outfielder Anthony Aliotti had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in 5 runs for the Sounds. Starter Arnold Leon allowed 5 runs over 4 1/3 innings of work, while switch-pitcher Pat Venditte picked up the win in relief. With outfielder Josh Reddick returning to action with Oakland, the A’s optioned infielder Tyler Ladendorf to Nashville.

Midland managed just 4 hits and 1 run in a game shortened by rain on Sunday. Outfielder Chad Oberacker singled, walked and drove in the RockHounds’ only run, while third baseman Ryon Healy singled, and catcher Carson Blair and second baseman Colin Walsh both doubled. Starter Jake Sanchez allowed 2 runs on 6 hits over 4 2/3 innings to take the loss. Meanwhile, Midland outfielder Ryan Mathews was released by the A’s after Sunday’s game.

LHP Dillon Overton, the A’s 2nd-round pick in the 2013 draft, made his first start for a full-season team since returning from Tommy John surgery last season. Overton surrendered just 1 run on 2 hits over 4 innings of work on Sunday, while RHP Joel Seddon allowed 4 runs, just 1 earned, in 4 innings of relief to take the loss. Catcher Beau Taylor reached base 3 times, on a single and 2 walks, and drove in a run, while first baseman John Nogowski doubled and walked, and outfielder J.P. Sportman and shortstop Branden Cogswell had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports.

Starter Heath Fillmyer allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, over 5 innings of work to take the loss in his debut for Beloit. Third baseman Edwin Diaz walked and doubled in a pair of runs, while first baseman Sandber Pimentel also walked and doubled, and designated hitter Joe Bennie singled, walked twice and stole a base in the loss.
