With Beloit down by a run in the bottom of the 3rd, first baseman Michael Soto slugged a 2-run homer to put the Snappers up for good on Monday. Soto also singled and walked in the game, while catcher Philip Pohl hit a 2-run homer of his own, and designated hitter Josh Ludy launched a 3-run shot. Starter Joe Michaud allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, on 6 hits over just 3 innings of work, while RHP Sam Bragg tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his 4th win for Beloit. And with the victory, the Snappers end their season with a 55-84 record. Farmhand Of The Game:

Pitcher Arnold Leon

(6 IP / 5 H / 1 ER / 1 BB / 6 K)

In a dramatic do-or-die game that Sacramento had to win to make it into the PCL playoffs, the River Cats lost in extra innings on Monday to end their season, possibly their last as an Oakland A’s affiliate. Starter Arnold Leon did a good job of keeping his team in the battle, allowing just 1 run while striking out 6 in 6 innings of work for Sacramento. RHPs Seth Frankoff and Philip Humber each tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief, while RHP Jeremy McBryde shut down Reno in the 9th but ended up surrendering the winning run in the top of the 10th. Outfielder Shane Peterson singled, doubled and scored Sacramento’s only run of the game in the 7th, while first baseman Daric Barton singled and drew a pair of walks in the loss. With the loss, the River Cats end their season with a record of 79-65. And with Sacramento’s season now over and its affiliation agreement with the A’s coming to an end in the offseason, speculation has it that the River Cats are looking to team up with the Giants and that the A’s new Triple-A team could very likely end up in Nashville. In other news, with major league rosters expanding, shortsop Jed Lowrie, outfielder Billy Burns, RHP Fernando Rodriguez and catcher Bryan Anderson have all been added to the A’s active roster.

First baseman Max Muncy singled and walked, while outfielder Chad Oberacker doubled to provide the Hounds’ only other hit of the night, and third baseman Matt Chapman went 0 for 3 in his first game for Midland after arriving from Beloit along with Finnegan. Third baseman Jefry Marte returned to the disabled list after re-aggravating an oblique strain and RHP Nate Long was placed on the temporarily inactive list for the RockHounds.
