First baseman Matt Olson hit his league-leading 37th home run, a 3-run shot, and also singled in a run to help Stockton win its sixth straight on Sunday. Shortstop Daniel Robertson singled, doubled and scored twice, while designated hitter Renato Nunez had a pair of hits and drove in a run, and center fielder Boog Powell went 2 for 5 and scored a run in his second game for Stockton since returning from his suspension. Starter Jake Sanchez returned to the mound after spending two weeks on the disabled list and allowed just 1 run and struck out 5 over 4 innings of work, while RHP Jonathan Joseph followed up by tossing 4 scoreless frames to earn his 7th win for the Ports. Meanwhile, Stockton’s bullpen lost RHP Nolan Sanburn to the White Sox as a result of the Adam Dunn deal. Sanburn struck out 73 in 71 1/3 innings while posting a 3.28 ERA in 42 relief appearances this season for Stockton. The Ports also lost RHPs Tim Atherton and Blake Hassebrock when the two were promoted to Sacramento. Jake Sanchez was activated from the disabled list to make Sunday’s start and RHP Brendan McCurry was promoted from Beloit to bolster Stockton’s bullpen.

Sacramento dropped Sunday’s game to force a dramatic finale at Raley Field on Monday. The River Cats’ season has now come down to one game. If they beat Reno on Monday, they’ll go to the PCL playoffs. But if they lose, they’ll go home. Starter Matt Buschmann had a shaky outing on Sunday, allowing 7 runs over 6 innings to take his 7th loss, while RHP Josh Lindblom tossed 1 scoreless inning in his return from the disabled list. Second baseman Jose Martinez singled, homered and drove in a pair, while outfielder Nick Buss singled, walked and drove in a run. Catcher Bryan Anderson singled and doubled, and shortstop Jed Lowrie went 1 for 5 in his second rehab game for the River Cats. While Lindblom returned from the disabled list, infielder Tyler Ladendorf was added to the DL. RHPs Tim Atherton and Blake Hassebrock were reassigned to Sacramento from Stockton. And in order to make room on the 40-man roster for Adam Dunn, RHP Deck McGuire, who was already with the River Cats, was officially outrighted to Sacramento.

RHP Murphy Smith had a rough start for the RockHounds, allowing 6 runs, 5 earned, over just 2/3 of an inning to take his 5th loss on Sunday. RHP Drew Granier gave up 3 runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief, while RHP Marcus Walden surrendered another 3 runs over 1 1/3 innings, and LHP Jeremy Barfield returned to the mound to get the final two outs for Midland. Outfielder D’Arby Myers singled, doubled and drove in 2 runs, while shortstop Dusty Coleman also drove in a pair. Second baseman Conner Crumbliss had 3 hits and a walk and scored 3 times, and outfielder Kent Matthes had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds. Meanwhile, third baseman Jefry Marte has landed on the disabled list after re-aggravating a left oblique strain and RHP Kyle Finnegan has been reassigned to the RockHounds from Beloit and will make the start for Midland on Monday.

RHP Hunter Adkins had a rocky start for the Snappers, allowing 8 runs, 6 earned, over 5 innings to take his 6th loss on Sunday. Shortstop Branden Cogswell had 2 hits and drove in a run, while outfielder B.J. Boyd doubled in a run. Catcher Josh Ludy had a pair of hits and a walk, and first baseman Nate Freiman went 1 for 4 with a double in his second game for the Snappers.

RHP A.J. Burke had another solid start for the Lake Monsters, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits over 6 1/3 innings, but he still ended up taking the loss on Sunday. Shortstop Gabriel Santana had 3 hits, while center fielder J.P. Sportman singled, stole a base and scored, and left fielder Max Kuhn singled in the only run of the game for the Lake Monsters.
