After scoring 11 runs in Thursday’s game, Stockton came back to put 17 runs on the board on Friday. Second baseman Wade Kirkland slugged a grand slam in the 6th inning to help put the game out of reach, while third baseman Ryon Healy collected 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in 3, and catcher Beau Taylor doubled, had a pair of singles and a pair of walks and drove in 4. Starter Josh Bowman allowed 5 runs over 5 innings of work to pick up his 8th win, while RHPs Andres Avila and Bobby Wahl each tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief for the Ports.

Much like the A’s, the River Cats led their division for much of the season. But with Friday’s loss, the team slipped into second place and is now one game back with just three games left in the season. Starter Angel Castro had another rocky outing for the River Cats on Friday, allowing 6 runs, 5 earned, on 11 hits over 5 innings of work to take the loss for Sacramento. Designated hitter Anthony Aliotti collected 3 hits and drove in 2 runs, while second baseman Jose Martinez and third baseman Alden Carrithers had a pair of hits apiece in the loss.

Second Baseman Conner Crumbliss

(3 for 4 / RBI)

 

With the game tied in the top of the 9th, second baseman Conner Crumbliss hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring home the winning run for the RockHounds. Crumbliss had 3 hits on the night, while shortstop Dusty Coleman and outfielder Kent Matthes both singled and doubled for Midland. Starter Deryk Hooker allowed 2 runs in 4 2/3 innings of work, while LHP Frank Gailey tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief. RHP Tim Sexton pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings to pick up the win, and RHP Jose Flores got the final three outs for his 12th save.

RHP Lou Trivino had a rough start for the Snappers, allowing 9 runs, 6 earned, on 10 hits in just 2 innings of work to take his 11th loss in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader. First baseman Michael Soto had 3 hits, including a double, drove in a run and scored 3 times, while outfielder Justin Higley singled, doubled, walked and also drove in a run, and third baseman Matt Chapman doubled, walked and scored a run for the Snappers.

Designated hitter Luis Baez singled, doubled and drove in 2 runs, while first baseman Michael Soto had 2 hits and drove in a pair, and third baseman Matt Chapman doubled, walked and scored twice for the Snappers. Starter Matt Stalcup allowed 2 runs in 3 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Sam Bragg tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win and help the Snappers salvage the split in Friday’s doubleheader.

3rd-round draft pick Brett Graves was a little shaky in his second start for the Lake Monsters on Friday, allowing 4 runs in just 2 innings of work, while RHP Blake McMullen gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, in 2 innings of relief. RHP Daniel Gossett and LHP Mike Fagan each tossed 2 scoreless innings, but RHP Corey Walter surrendered the winning run in the bottom of the 10th to take the loss. Outfielder Max Kuhn and catcher Seong-min Kim both singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs, while first baseman John Nogowski collected 3 hits and scored twice for the Lake Monsters.
