After having lost his last three starts, RHP Deck McGuire delivered an impressive outing on Saturday. The former 1st-round draft pick allowed just 2 baserunners through the first 6 innings until he surrendered a home run and a single before exting the game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th. McGuire ended the night allowing just 1 run on 4 hits over 6 2/3 innings to earn his 2nd win for Sacramento. Second baseman Jose Martinez homered and drove in 2 runs, while outfielder Shane Peterson doubled and drove in a pair. Shortstop Tyler Ladendorf collected 2 singles, a double and a walk, and designated hitter Colin Walsh had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the River Cats.

RHP Chris Jensen turned in another strong start for Midland on Saturday, allowing just 4 hits over 7 scoreless innings, and he left the game with a 3-run lead. Unfortunately, the RockHounds’ bullpen couldn’t hold it. RHP Ryan Doolittle gave up 3 runs, 1 earned, in just 2/3 of an inning in relief, and RHP Jose Flores surrendered the winning run in the top of the 8th to take his 2nd loss for the Hounds. Designated hitter Jeremy Barfield tripled, doubled and drove in 3 runs, while first baseman Max Muncy collected 3 hits, including a double, and second baseman Conner Crumbliss doubled, walked and scored a run for the RockHounds.

Starter Josh Bowman had his fourth straight start for Stockton on Saturday, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and striking out 5 over 7 innings of work, while RHP Kris Hall pitched a perfect 8th to pick up his 5th win, and RHP Austin House tossed a scoreless 9th for his 18th save. Catcher Ryan Gorton singled in the winning run in the top of the 9th, while third baseman Renato Nunez doubled, and shortstop Daniel Robertson had a pair of hits for the Ports.

The Snappers managed just 4 hits on the night, and 2 of those hits were home runs off the bat of Beloit outfielder Ryan Mathews, his 9th and 10th of the season. Designated hitter Chih Fang Pan doubled and first baseman Michael Soto singled for the team’s only other hits in the game. Starter Lou Trivino had a rough outing, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits over 5 innings of work to take his 10th loss, while RHPs Trevor Bayless and Joe Michaud both tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief for Beloit.

Starter Cristhian Perez was a little shaky on Saturday, surrendering 3 runs on 6 hits in just 3 innings of work to take his 4th loss, while LHP Jose Torres was solid out of the bullpen, allowing just 2 unearned runs and striking out 7 over 5 innings of relief for the Lake Monsters. Vermont managed just 2 hits in the game. Second baseman Trent Gilbert singled and outfielder Ben McQuown doubled in the loss.

Rehabbing starter Tanner Peters had his best outing since returning to the mound, allowing just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 3 over 2 innings of work on Saturday. RHP Carlos Navas gave up 2 runs in 5 innings of relief to take his 5th loss, while LHP Kevin Ferreras and RHP Jesus Rivas each tossed 1 scoreless inning for the A’s. Meanwhile, shortstop Edwin Diaz doubled in the 1st inning for the A’s only hit of the night.
