Outfielder Jaycob Brugman continued his monster month of August on Saturday, going 4 for 5 with a double and 2 home runs while driving in 4 runs for the Ports. Brugman has now hit 9 home runs in his last 9 games while batting .472 and driving in 15 runs over that span. Catcher Beau Taylor hit a 3-run homer in the 8th to give Stockton the lead, while shortstop Daniel Robertson and third baseman Renato Nunez each had 3 hits and drove in a run, and second baseman Chad Pinder and outfielder Tyler Marincov both tallied 2 doubles and a single and drove in a pair of runs for the Ports. Starter Tim Alderson allowed 8 runs over 4 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Austin House picked up the win after getting the final four outs for the Ports.

Outfielder Shane Peterson hit a 2-run homer in the 1st inning for Sacramento, and those would be the only runs the River Cats would score on the night. Starter Arnold Leon allowed 2 runs and struck out 7 over 6 innings of work, while RHPs Fernando Rodriguez and Philip Humber each tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief, but RHP Jeremy McBryde gave up 5 runs, 2 earned, in the top of the 9th to take the loss.

Starter Murphy Smith allowed 4 runs over 5 2/3 innings to take his 4th loss, while RHP Tim Sexton gave up 2 runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief for the RockHounds. Third baseman Jefry Marte singled, doubled and drove in a run, while designated hitter Conner Crumbliss singled, doubled and scored a run, and first baseman Max Muncy had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

Starter Joey Wagman gave up a grand slam in the 1st inning to account for all the runs in the game on Saturday. RHP Hunter Adkins came out of the bullpen to toss 5 scoreless innings in relief, but Beloit couldn’t put any runs on the board. Catcher Philip Pohl singled and doubled, while third baseman Matt Chapman and second baseman Chih Fang Pan had a pair of hits apiece for the Snappers.

Starter Cristhian Perez allowed 2 runs over 4 innings of work to take the loss, while LHP Jose Torres tossed 5 scoreless innings in relief, but the Lake Monsters could only manage to put 1 run on the board on Saturday. 19-year-old shortstop Yairo Munoz had 3 hits to raise his average to .316, while designated hitter Max Kuhn singled, walked twice and scored, and pinch hitter Trent Gilbert singled in the Lake Monsters only run of the night.

Starter Tanner Peters gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, on 3 hits over 2 innings of work to take the loss on Saturday, while LHP Victor Veliz allowed just 1 unearned run over 4 innings of relief for the A’s. Catcher Argenis Raga singled, tripled and drove in a run, while outfielder Vicmal De La Cruz doubled, drew a pair of walks and scored a run, and designated hitter Luke Montz walked twice and scored in the loss.
