Former 1st-round draft pick Tim Alderson turned in his third straight quality start for Stockton, allowing 1 run on just 3 hits while striking out 7 over 6 innings of work to earn his 2nd win on Tuesday. Shortstop Daniel Robertson had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs, while outfielder Bobby Crocker homered for the second straight day, and designated hitter Ryon Healy singled in a pair for the Ports.

The River Cats managed just 1 hit on Tuesday, coming off the bat of right fielder Nick Buss in the 5th inning for Sacramento. Center fielder Billy Burns went 0 for 4 and struck out twice in his fifth game for the Cats, while shortstop Andy Parrino and first baseman Anthony Aliotti struck out 3 times apiece in the loss. Starter Deck McGuire allowed 3 runs on 8 hits over 5 2/3 innings to take the loss for Sacramento.

Last week’s Texas League Player of the Week Kent Matthes continued his hot hitting on Tuesday. Matthes homered in his second straight game and also singled, walked, stole a base and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds. Designated hitter Conner Crumbliss had 2 doubles and drove in a run, while first baseman Max Muncy and outfielder Kenny Wilson had a pair of hits apiece for the Hounds. Starter Sean Murphy allowed 3 runs in just 3 innings of work to take his 3rd loss, while RHP Murphy Smith allowed 1 run in 4 innings of relief for the RockHounds.

First baseman Michael Soto singled, doubled, walked and drove in a run, while shortstop Melvin Mercedes and outfielders Justin Higley and B.J. Boyd had a pair of hits apiece for the Snappers.

17-year-old RHP Jesus Zambrano allowed 2 runs and struck out 4 in 5 innings of work to take his 3rd loss, while RHP Tyler Willman gave up 1 run in 1 inning of relief, and LHP Alex Nolasco and RHPs Heath Fillmyer and Ben Bracewell each tossed 1 scoreless inning for the A’s. Outfielders Vicmal De La Cruz and Jonesy Zarraga both singled to provide the A’s only hits of the game.
