Stockton jumped out to an early lead on Friday when second baseman Chad Pinder hit his 12th home run in the 1st inning for the Ports. Pinder finished the night with 3 hits, a walk, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored, while first baseman Matt Olson hit his league-leading 29th home run, and outfielder Bobby Crocker collected 3 hits and drove in a run for the Ports. Stockton starter Jake Sanchez allowed 3 runs over 6 innings of work to earn his 5th win, while RHP Nolan Sanburn gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 2 innings of relief, and RHP Austin House pitched a perfect 9th to post his 13th save.

It was a rough night for the River Cats. The team managed just 3 hits in the game, with catcher Luis Exposito doubling for the Cats’ only extra-base hit of the night. Starter Arnold Leon allowed 7 runs on 12 hits over 5 innings of work to take his 5th loss on Friday. LHP Joe Savery and RHP Seth Frankoff each pitched a perfect inning in relief, while Exposito came out from behind the plate to toss a scoreless final frame despite walking the bases loaded. In other news, the A’s acquired RHP Deck McGuire from Toronto for cash and optioned him to Sacramento, which gives the River Cats six starting pitchers on the roster. McGuire was the Blue Jays 1st-round draft pick in 2010 and has posted a 4.21 ERA in 20 starts this season between Double-A and Triple-A.

Second baseman Conner Crumbliss had 4 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while first baseman Max Muncy hit a 2-run homer, and catcher Bruce Maxwell went 1 for 4 to collect his first hit for the Hounds. Starter Sean Murphy allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, over 5 innings to take his 1st loss on Friday, while RHP Ryan Doolittle gave up 1 run in 2 innings of relief for the RockHounds.

Center fielder B.J. Boyd singled, walked twice and drove in a run, while right fielder Tyler Marincov doubled, walked and scored a run, and designated hitter Matt Chapman also doubled in his return from the disabled list.

Starter Cristhian Perez was a little shaky for the Lake Monsters on Friday, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks over 4 innings of work, while this year’s 3rd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brett Graves, struck out 4 in 3 scoreless innings of relief to earn his 2nd win. Catcher Seongmin Kim had 2 hits and drove in a pair of runs, while first baseman Ryan Huck doubled in a run for the Lake Monsters.
