Triple-A All-Star outfielder Shane Peterson had a big night for the River Cats, slugging 3 home runs to help the Cats come out the winners in a 10-inning contest on Thursday. His first home run put Sacramento on the board in the 3rd, his second brought the River Cats within 2 runs in the 5th and his third gave his team a 3-run lead in the 6th. RHPs Kris Hall and Nolan Sanburn combined to surrender 6 runs in the 7th, and RHP Andrea Avila gave up the winning run in the bottom of the 10th with the help of a missed catch by shortstop Daniel Robertson earlier in the inning. Robertson homered to lead off the game, while first baseman Matt Olson and third baseman Renato Nunez hit back-to-back homers with 2 outs in the top of the 9th to briefly give the Ports the lead. Meanwhile, top draft pick Matt Chapman was placed on the 7-day disabled list after running into the fence chasing a foul ball in Wednesday’s game, but his injury’s not considered serious.
