(6 IP / 6 H / 1 ER / 1 BB / 4 K / Win)

RHP Drew Granier turned in a strong start on Sunday, allowing just 1 run over 6 innings to earn his 3rd win for the RockHounds. The season got off to a rough start for Granier when he allowed 7 runs in 1 2/3 innings on opening night, but he’s now posted an ERA of 2.97 over his last 10 starts. Granier was relieved on Sunday by RHP Tucker Healy, who struck out 5 in 2 scoreless innings of relief and has now struck out 19 while allowing just 1 run in 12 innings since joining Midland. First baseman Anthony Aliotti doubled, homered and drove in 3 runs, while second baseman Conner Crumbliss singled, homered and drove in 2, and third baseman Jefry Marte and outfielder Josh Whitaker had a pair of hits apiece for the Hounds. Designated Hitter Daric Barton

(4 for 5 / Home Run / Double / 3 RBIs)

Designated hitter Daric Barton had another big night on Sunday, collecting 4 hits, including his 2nd home run and his 9th double, and driving in 3 runs for the River Cats. Barton is now 7 for his last 11 with 3 doubles, a home run and 6 RBIs in that span. First baseman Nate Freiman singled and slugged a 3-run homer, while third baseman Jake Elmore had a pair of hits in his return from the disabled list. RHP Marcus Walden had another shaky start for Sacramento, allowing 6 runs, 5 earned, on 10 hits over 4 2/3 innings on Sunday. The game was tied heading to the bottom of the 9th inning when RHP Jeremy McBryde surrendered the winning run, allowing Salt Lake to win in a walk-off.

CALIFORNIA LEAGUE  (High-A)

High Desert Mavericks  4

Stockton Ports             3

LP – Barfield 3-1 / 5.10

Lamb

Farmhand Of The Game:

Pitcher Chris Lamb

(5 IP / 6 H / 1 ER / 2 BB / 3 K)

LHP Chris Lamb delivered another strong start for Stockton, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work, and he left the game with a 1-run lead on Sunday. It was the third straight start where Lamb has allowed just 1 run. But RHP Josh Bowman gave up a run in the 6th inning to tie the game, and LHP Jeremy Barfield surrendered a pair of runs in the 7th to take the loss. Outfielder Bobby Crocker had a pair of hits and stole his 17th base, while outfielder Billy McKinney walked and doubled in a run in the bottom of the 9th. Shortstop Addison Russell went 2 for 3 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in his return from the disabled list. Daniel Robertson, who moved over to play second base with Russell’s arrival (previewing the A’s potential keystone combo of the future), walked, doubled and scored a run. Outfielder Aaron Shipman was placed on the disabled list to make room on the roster for Russell. After the game, the A’s top prospect told MiLB.com that he feels “100 percent.” And it looks like the plan is for Russell to remain with Stockton through Saturday, when the California League All-Star break begins, before making the move to Midland, or possibly even to Sacramento.
