Farmhand Of The Game:

Second Baseman Chad Pinder

(2 for 4 / Home Run)

Second baseman Chad Pinder slugged his second home run in as many days in the 5th inning to tie Friday’s game for Stockton. And the A’s third overall pick in last year’s draft is now 8 for 21 with 3 doubles and 2 home runs over his last 5 games. First baseman Matt Olson doubled in the go-ahead run in the 7th, while shortstop Daniel Robertson, third baseman Renato Nunez and outfielder Billy McKinney had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. Starter Sean Murphy allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and struck out 7 in 4 1/3 innings of work, while rehabbing LHP Eric O’Flaherty picked up the win after striking out the side on 13 pitches in a perfect 7th inning for the Ports. Meanwhile, fellow rehab project Addison Russell should be joining Stockton on Saturday and is set to make his first appearance in the field in Sunday’s game.

(2 for 4 / Double)

Sacramento starter Matt Buschmann allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 5 innings to take his 1st loss on Friday, while RHPs Fernando Nieve and Philip Humber combined to throw 3 scoreless innings of relief for the River Cats. Sacramento managed just 7 hits on the night. The Cats’ latest leadoff hitter, outfielder Nick Buss, singled and doubled, while designated hitter Nate Freiman had a pair of singles, and shortstop Andy Parrino singled in the only run of the game for the River Cats. In other news, the A’s reacquired the team’s 3rd-round draft pick from 2009, LHP Justin Marks, from the Royals for cash and optioned him to Sacramento. Marks had a 5.64 ERA in 13 games for Triple-A Omaha this season.

RHP Chris Jensen had a solid outing for the RockHounds, allowing 2 runs on just 3 hits over 6 2/3 innings, but he still ended up taking his 6th loss on Friday. Midland managed just 4 hits in the game, 1 apiece by Max Muncy, Conner Crumbliss, Josh Whitaker and Beau Taylor. Meanwhile, the A’s designated Midland outfielder Kent Matthes for assignment on Friday in order to make room for LHP Justin Marks on the 40-man roster. Matthes could still return to the RockHounds if he ends up clearing waivers.

LP – Finnegan 5-2 / 2.35

Farmhand Of The Game:

Pitcher Kyle Finnegan

(8 IP / 5 H / 1 ER / 4 BB / 0 K)

RHP Kyle Finnegan turned in another strong start for the Snappers, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits over 8 innings, but he still ended up taking his 2nd loss on Friday. Finnegan was engaged in a scoreless duel until the 8th inning, when a line drive down the first base line, which almost everyone seemed to think was foul, was called fair, enabling the only run of the game to come around to score. And Snappers manager Rick Magnante was ejected after arguing the call. Meanwhile, Beloit’s batters managed to put just 3 hits on the board. Outfielder Tyler Marincov smacked his 13th double, while second baseman Chih-Fang Pan and outfielder B.J. Boyd both singled for Beloit.
