It was another day and another stellar defensive play and another walk-off win for the River Cats on Thursday. Third baseman Alden Carrithers led the way with 3 hits on the night. Carrithers, whom the A’s signed as a minor league free agent in the offseason, singled and scored the tying run in the 9th and singled and scored the winning run in the 11th to provide another walk-off win for the River Cats as well as the team’s 17th victory in its last 20 games. Carrithers also made an impressive catch on a foul ball that landed him in the Cats’ dugout as well as landing him on SportsCenter’s top 10 plays of the day. First baseman Daric Barton and Stephen Vogt, making his first start in left field for Sacramento, also had 3 hits apiece, while shortstop Andy Parrino homered, and designated hitter Nate Freiman drove in the tying run and the winning run with sacrifice flies in the 9th and the 11th. Starter Dan Straily was a little shaky, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Evan Scribner tossed a scoreless 10th and 11th to earn his 2nd win for Sacramento.
