After RHP Kyle Finnegan tossed 7 shutout innings the previous day for the Snappers, RHP Dylan Covey followed up with 7 scoreless innings of his own on Saturday to earn his 3rd win. RHP Blake McMullen contributed 2 scoreless innings to close things out in his first appearance for the Snappers. Outfielder Jaycob Brugman bad a big night for Beloit, hitting his 2nd home run and his 7th double while driving in 5 of the team’s 6 runs on the night. Fellow outfielder Herschel Powell, who leads all A’s minor leaguers in on-base percentage, reached base 4 times, walking twice and singling twice.

RHP Zach Neal had a shaky start for Sacramento on Saturday, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits over 5 innings to take his 2nd loss, while Philip Humber tossed 3 scoreless innings in relief for the River Cats. Designated hitter Alden Carrithers had 2 hits, stole a base and drove in a pair of runs, while catcher Ryan Ortiz singled and tripled, and outfielder Shane Peterson and second baseman Tyler Ladendorf each drove in a run for the River Cats. Meanwhile, first baseman Daric Barton cleared waivers and was optioned to Sacramento.

Outfielder Kent Matthes doubled and scored the RockHounds’ first run in the 2nd inning, and then smacked a 3-run homer, his 3rd, in the 3rd inning to give Midland a 4-run lead early in Saturday’s game. Starter Shawn Haviland allowed 3 runs over 5 2/3 innings and left the game with a 1-run lead. RHP Blake Hassebrock tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, but RHP Ryan Dull gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to take the loss. First baseman Anthony Aliotti and second baseman Hiro Nakajima had a pair of hits apiece for the Hounds.

After being pulled from his last start 11 days earlier after throwing just one inning, RHP Manny Correa was removed after throwing just 18 pitches in the 1st inning on Saturday night. No status updates were offered on Correa, but if it turns out he needs to do a stint on the disabled list, Beloit RHPs Kyle Finnegan and Dylan Covey could both be candidates for promotion. RHP Jonathan Joseph allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, in 3 innings of relief to take his 3rd loss, while catcher Bruce Maxwell collected 3 hits, including a double, and scored twice, and outfielder Dusty Robinson tripled in a run for the Ports.
