With the game tied and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 4th inning, outfielder Tyler Marincov slugged a grand slam to give the Snappers a 4-run lead. Fellow outfielder Jaycob Brugman singled, tripled, walked and drove in a run in the win. Farmhand Of The Game:

First Baseman Nate Freiman

(Home Run / 2 RBIs)

Starter Zach Neal allowed 4 runs over 6 innings of work for Sacramento, while RHP Paul Smyth gave up 3 runs in 2 innings of relief to take his 1st loss on Sunday. First baseman Nate Freiman hit his 3rd home run, a 2-run shot, while shortstop Andy Parrino singled and doubled, and second baseman Tyler Ladendorf singled in a run for the River Cats. In other news, the A’s claimed outfielder Nick Buss off waivers from the Dodgers and assigned him to Sacramento. The 27-year-old had a .303/.363./.525 slash line at Triple-A Albuquerque last season.

Farmhand Of The Game:

Pitcher Andrew Werner

(5 IP / 2 H / 0 ER / 0 BB / 5 K / Win)

LHP Andrew Werner had his first solid start for the RockHounds on Sunday, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5 over 5 scoreless innings to earn his 1st win, while RHP Murphy Smith gave up 2 runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief, and RHP Seth Frankoff got the final 4 outs for his 7th save. Shortstop Dusty Coleman had a pair of hits and drove in a run, while outfielder Chad Oberacker walked and doubled in a run for the RockHounds. First baseman Max Muncy, who walked and singled in a run, left the game when he was hit in the left hand with a thrown ball right after being forced out at second base on the front end of an attempted double play. He was taken to the hospital for examination and could potentially end up joining fellow RockHounds teammates Addison Russell, D’Arby Myers, Ryan Lipkin, Raul Alcantara, Tanner Peters and Jesus Castillo on the disabled list. As far as Addison Russell’s recovery goes, a month after going down with a torn hamstring, the A’s top prospect is still a ways away from returning. And it looks like RHP Raul Alcantara will miss the rest of the season with Tommy John surgery.

CALIFORNIA LEAGUE  (High-A)

Stockton Ports                      4

Farmhand Of The Game:

Outfielder Bobby Crocker

(Home Run / 2 RBIs)

RHP Matt Buschmann was activated from the disabled list and sent from Sacramento to Stockton to work his way back into shape, but his first start on Sunday was a little shaky. The 30-year-old allowed 3 runs in just 4 innings of work, while RHP Jonathan Joseph gave up 4 runs in 1 inning of relief to take his 2nd loss for Stockton. Outfielder Bobby Crocker and third baseman Renato Nunez both hit 2-run homers, while first baseman Matt Olson walked twice, and outfielders Billy McKinney and Dusty Robinson both doubled for the Ports.

  1. Do you know if El Paso is known as a hitter’s park, pitchers park, or neutral?
