Farmhand Of The Game:

Third Baseman Jefry Marte

(2 for 4 / RBI)

Starter Chris Jensen allowed 3 runs on 10 hits over 7 innings of work to take his 1st loss on Saturday. Midland managed just 5 hits in the game. Third baseman Jefry Marte had a pair of hits and drove in a run, while first baseman Max Muncy doubled, and second baseman Hiroyuki Nakajima singled, as did left fielder Colin Walsh, who has now reached base in all 18 of his games since joining the RockHounds. Billy Burns, who had not played in over a week due to a sore oblique, made an appearance as a pinch runner in the 9th inning, while outfielder Josh Whitaker returned from the disabled list and went 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts, and RHP Jesus Castillo was placed on the disabled list with a right forearm strain. Meanwhile, Midland media reports claim that RHP Raul Alcantara – who’s been on the disabled list with a sore elbow – has been diagnosed as requiring Tommy John surgery, but that he’s seeking a second opinion. If the original diagnosis is correct, it would cause one of the A’s top pitching prospects to miss the rest of the season.
