Pitcher Dylan Covey

(7 IP / 3 H / 1 ER / 1 BB / 5 K / Win)

RHP Dylan Covey, the A’s 4th-round pick in last year’s draft, had his first solid start this season for the Snappers on Wednesday, allowing 1 run on just 3 hits over 7 innings to earn his 1st win, while RHP Sam Bragg tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his 1st save. Outfielder Tyler Marincov homered, doubled and drove in a pair of runs, while outfielder Herschel Powell and third baseman B.A. Vollmuth both doubled, walked and stole a base for the Snappers. In other news, RHP Bobby Wahl, last year’s 5th-round pick for the A’s, is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Friday in his return from an oblique strain that has sidelined him for the past two weeks.

Farmhand Of The Game:

Shortstop Andy Parrino

(1 for 3 / Walk)

RHP Josh Lindblom, in what could be a warm-up for a potential start in the A’s doubleheader against Seattle next week, allowed 7 runs, 3 earned, in 6 2/3 innings to take his 3rd loss on Wednesday. River Cats hitters didn’t put up much of a fight on the night, mustering just 4 hits in the game. Shortstop Andy Parrino reached base twice, on a single and a walk, while designated hitter Jake Goebbert drew a pair of walks in the loss. In other news, infielder Hiro Nakajima returned from the disabled and was assigned to Double-A Midland.

Farmhand Of The Game:

Third Baseman Jefry Marte

(Double / 3 RBIs)

With 2 outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th and the RockHounds down by 3 runs, third baseman Jefry Marte smacked a double to clear the bases and tie the game for Midland. First baseman Max Muncy then singled home Marte to provide the go-ahead run for the Hounds on Wednesday. Designated hitter Miles Head hit his 2nd home run to put his team on the board in the 3rd. Starter Drew Granier allowed 4 runs over 5 innings of work, while LHP Jeff Urlaub tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, RHP Ryan Dull picked up the win with a scoreless 8th, and RHP Seth Frankoff got the final 3 outs in the 9th for his 5th save. In other news, with outfielder Josh Whitaker’s move to the disabled list, infielder Hiro Nakajima (along with his interpreter) was reassigned to the RockHounds from Sacramento. Hiro’s arrival should help to ease Midland’s middle infield shortage as he’s likely to share time with Dusty Coleman at shortstop and Colin Walsh at second base.

(5 2/3 IP / 7 H / 1 ER / 1 BB / 2 K)

RHP Hunter Adkins made his second start on Wednesday since taking over for promoted starter Shawn Haviland and allowed just 1 run in 5 2/3 innings of work and left the game with a 3-run lead. LHP Jeremy Barfield surrendered a 2-run homer in the 7th inning to narrow it to a 1-run lead. RHP Michael Ynoa then made his first appearance since returning from the disabled list in the 8th and gave up a pair of singles that plated the tying run for Bakersfield. Ynoa ended up walking away with his 1st win though after the Ports took back the lead in the top of the 9th, and RHP Austin House earned his 3rd save after notching the last 3 outs in the bottom of the 9th. Second baseman Chad Pinder collected 3 hits, including a double, and came around to score the winning run, while shortstop Daniel Robertson had a pair of hits and drove in the winning run in the 9th for the Ports.
