River Cats’ all-time hit-leader Michael Taylor tagged a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning to give Sacramento the lead, and the team never looked back, tacking on ten more runs before the night was through. Taylor doubled in another run, while shortstop Tyler Ladendorf singled, doubled and drove in 3, outfielder Jake Goebbert tripled, doubled and drove in 2, and third baseman Alden Carrithers collected 3 hits and drove in a pair. Joe Blanton, making his first start since returning to the A’s organization, allowed 6 runs, 5 earned, on 9 hits over 5 innings of work to pick up the win for the Cats.

Starter Tanner Peters allowed 3 runs on 7 hits over 5 1/3 innings to take the loss in his Double-A debut for the RockHounds on Saturday, while RHP Murphy Smith struck out 6 over 3 2/3 perfect innings in his first appearance since being moved to the bullpen. Designated hitter Max Muncy tripled to bring home Billy Burns for Midland’s only run of the game. Burns singled, walked and swiped a pair of bases for the Hounds. Meanwhile, top prospect Addison Russell sat out the game after tweaking his hamstring in a stolen base attempt on Friday night. Russell, who had 5 hits – including a home run and a double – in his first 7 at-bats of the season, is listed as day-to-day.

Starter Manny Correa, signed as a minor league free agent in the offseason, had a dazzling debut on Saturday, allowing just 3 hits over 7 scoreless innings to earn the win in his first start for Stockton. Rehabbing RHP Ryan Cook walked 2, struck out 2 and gave up 2 hits and 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning in his second appearance for the Ports, while RHP Austin House struck out 2 in 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the save. Second baseman Wade Kirkland doubled to clear the bases in the 2nd inning and provide all the scoring Stockton would need, while shortstop Daniel Robertson collected 3 hits on the night, and outfielder Craig Gentry singled and doubled in his first rehab appearance for the Ports.

The team managed just 4 hits in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, with designated hitter Ryan Matthews doubling in the Snappers’ only run of the game.

Starter Kyle Finnegan was impressive in his season debut for the Snappers on Saturday, allowing 1 run on just 2 hits over 5 innings of work, and he left the game with the lead. RHP Andres Avila promptly gave it back by giving up 2 runs in 1 inning of relief. But Beloit wound up with a walk-off win when outfielder Tyler Marincov doubled, shortstop Melvin Mercedes singled him home, outfielder Herschel “Boog” Powell singled him over to the third, and then Mercedes came around to score the winning run on a wild pitch. RHP Stuart Pudenz, who’d tossed a scoreless frame in the top of the inning, picked up the win as the Snappers claimed a split in Saturday’s doubleheader.
