After evening up their best-of-three 2nd-round playoff series with Quad Cities yesterday, the Snappers lost the rubber game of the match on Monday by a score of 9-5. RHP Derek De Young got off to a rough start, allowing 2 runs in the 2nd inning and then 3 in the 3rd. RHPs Trevor Bayless and Vince Voiro each allowed 2 runs in 2 innings of work before RHP Sam Bragg finished up with 3 scoreless innings in relief. Outfielder Brett Vertigan had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Outfielder Aaron Shipman also had a pair of singles and a double, while shortstop Sam Roberts homered in the 3rd inning, and first baseman Matt Olson and catcher Nick Rickles both doubled and drove in a run in the loss. Unfortunately, Snappers shortstop Daniel Robertson missed the entire series with the passing of his father this weekend. And with their season now ended, many members of the Snappers’ talented team can look forward to showing what they can do with Stockton in the California League next year.
