After sweeping the 1st-round of the Midwest League playoffs, the Snappers went down to defeat on Saturday after scoring just 1 run in Game #1 of the Western Division Championship Series at Quad Cities. Starter Andres Avila allowed 2 runs, just 1 earned, on 6 hits over 4 2/3 innings to take the loss. Shortstop Sam Roberts made an error in the 1st inning that helped lead to an unearned run for Quad Cities. Roberts is currently filling in for regular shortstop Daniel Robertson who’s away from the team due to a family medical emergency. Meanwhile, Beloit’s lineup managed just 4 hits in the game. Designated hitter Ryan Mathews homered in the 4th inning to account for the Snappers’ only run of the game, while outfielder Aaron Shipman had a pair of hits, and outfielder John Wooten went 1 for 3 in the loss.
