LHP Carlos Hernandez allowed 3 runs on 7 hits over 5 innings of work to take his 3rd loss on Friday. The River Cats managed just 5 hits in the game. Outfielder Michael Choice singled and walked, while second baseman Jemile Weeks singled and doubled but also committed a pair of errors in the field, and third baseman Dusty Coleman went 0 for 4 in the game and is now 0 for 14 since joining the River Cats. In other news, shortstop Addison Russell is scheduled to join Sacramento on Saturday to help the Cats in their playoff run.

Starter Murphy Smith had a strong outing for the RockHounds, allowing just 1 run while striking out 5 over 7 innings to earn his 9th win on Friday. First baseman Max Muncy singled, doubled, tripled and drove in 2 runs, while third baseman Jefry Marte had 3 hits, including a double, drove in a run and scored 3 times, and outfielder D’Arby Myers singled and doubled to run in hitting streak to 33 games.

Starter James Simmons allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, on 7 hits over 6 innings of work to take his 8th loss on Friday. Catcher Bruce Maxwell doubled in a run, while outfielder Rashun Dixon doubled and scored a run and, in what was most likely his last game with Stockton, shortstop Addison Russell singled in a pair of runs in the 3rd inning to give the Ports the lead. Russell headed to Sacramento after the game to help the River Cats with their playoff push.

Third baseman Ryon Healy had a big night at the plate, collecting a single, a pair of doubles and a home run while driving in 5 runs and stealing a base. Outfielder B.J. Boyd singled, doubled and drove in 3, while top draft pick Billy McKinney went 0 for 3 with a pair of walks, stole a base and scored twice. 18-year-old RHP Ronald Herrera was solid in his first start for Vermont after being promoted from the Arizona League, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, on 3 hits over 5 innings to earn the win on Friday.
